Ferguson protesters shut down malls, trains on Black Friday | Fox News

Good, this is the next level to raise awareness of how cops have become lawless and brutal themselves.

Then, a handful of around 15 protesters were arrested, so much for freedom to assemble, now they're trampling on constitutional rights, trying to tamp down peaceful demonstrations, how despicable.
 
Many on the Left (although this is certainly available from those who are desperate enough on the Right) overly romanticize civil disobedience.

Those most affected by the interruption of transportation and consumerism aren't the well-to-do, but rather the lower middle class and the lower class. They may sympathize with your aims, but they certainly cannot afford to be denied transportation to their jobs, spending time with their families, and providing meaningful gifts for family and friends. This time is especially valuable to them. Never mind that now. We best deny everyone simple, honest, heart-warming comforts, because our naive political crusades are more important.

Likewise, because their minds have been poisoned by Henry David Thoreau (who, as any learned liberal would let you know, inspired Gandhi, who in turn inspired MLK), they have seemingly taken being arrested as a badge of honor. Being arrested isn't a badge of honor, and doing things so blatantly against the law so one could get arrested is beyond juvenile behavior. Of course, little be it known that Mr. Thoreau, so privileged be his position in life, that a night in jail was like a damn vacation for him. Oh he thought it was marvelous! He could afford to be bailed out by his auntie and display his privileged position even further by demanding in vain that he stay in jail so he could feel like a man. Ever since then, a good Leftist needs to get thrown into jail to feel like he or she was doing right and standing up for their beliefs. :roll:

The legal - justice system is broken, this is basically why these protests are ongoing. People want to see some changes made.

Much like the riots of the 1960's, people are making a statement now, they're fed up with the biased legal system, the establishment.

Those commie freaks you call them helped get civil rights bills passed and helped put an end to the Vietnam war. Quite good accomplishments. Nothing would ever have been accomplished if citizens just sat on their asses and hoped for something to happen. People took action and demanded change.

There was no legal shortcomings in this case, there wasn't even enough evidence for a trial. The grand jury was simply a dog and pony show to confirm what was already clear-Brown was a thug who decided to punch a cop and try to get his gun.

Its interesting how so many of the lefts statements come with a threat of violence.

Were you around in the 60's? I recall the very same thing happening. Some people believe they need to tear stuff down and burn it to the ground before anything tangible in their favor happens. They think that is the only way to be heard, it worked in the 60's.

Or perhaps you're talking about the protesters that laid down on the floor of the stores? The Galleria Malls in Richmond Heights? Or the West County Mall in Des Peres? Sorry, according to your article none of those people were arrested. Although at least some of them probably should have been considering they were on private property, not public.

Or are you talking about the people that chained themselves to trains for the train service from Oakland to San Francisco? You know, the train service that many people depend on in order to get home from work or to go to work? Which by the by is also private property. Not to mention all the safety issues of chaining yourself to a TRAIN.

Or do you really call chaining doors to the Pacific Place Shopping Center in Seattle peaceful? God knows what the people inside of that building would have done had one of them protestors set the place on fire like they did the buildings in Ferguson.

But hey! Its all justified right? After all, a white cop shot a black adult. All manners of vandalism and rioting and trespassing and other illegal actions are quite acceptable just because of that one simple fact. All other facts are not relevant and should just be ignored by all those righteous "peaceful protesters"....Right?

But, had the cop used his head and not escalated the situation, there might have been a different outcome. Wilson should have been employed as a security guard, and not a duly sworn police officer.

But, getting back to the topic here, when the cops and justice system begin trampling on first amendment rights, that's going a bit too far, and I'm sure right wing people who adamantly support their second amendment rights can appreciate that.

No BUT here, he acted appropriately. People dont get to sucker punch cops, pull the cops gun and try to shoot them, and then blame the outcome on the cop.

Just like all the violence in ferguson by the rioters isn't justified.

Your sense of right and wrong is so warped you can't seem to understand this.

Hey, read the story, this is about peaceful protesters shutting down malls and demonstrating at the Ferguson PD, this happened on black Friday, yesterday, you know. No cars or buildings were torched, get with it here, you're reliving what happened after the immediate grand jury decision! Have another cup of coffee, come back and read the linked article. Then post something about that topic, you of all people should know your rant is way off.

Civil rights were largely pushed by republicans, the left lost the vietnam war for its own politics (fighting fellow commies), and even if you were correct, its not a green light for this. If you call this an accomplishment, you should review your own belief system.

And you dont TAKE or DEMAND, you convince. I realize as a lefty you probably have no idea what this means.

Are you not in favor of a person's constitutional rights? I think your sense of right v wrong is severely flawed, now, say something about the protesters shutting down the malls, you know, the topic of the thread?

Hate to break it to you but no cop is not going to use deadly force when faced with potentially deadly force. Such as a criminal going for the cops gun. Anyone that thinks otherwise don't know jack from jill.

I'm all for the 1st Amendment. However that 1st Amendment does not apply to anyone that causes harm to a person or their property or violates another persons rights. Your right to protest does not supersede my right to not get my car/business burned down or my right to tell you to get the heck off my property.

You don't get it, which is typical of a righty. People demand change, they don't sit around and wait for it. You evidently know nothing about past history, otherwise, you would know citizens just don't sit around wishing and hoping, citizens demand change. I suppose if you want to convince a lawmaker of something, you would carry to them a box of chocolates, a bouquet of flowers, and a handful of cash to lobby with? isn't that what right wing people do?

That's really funny considering EVERYTHING that I wrote with the exception of the last paragraph and the first sentence in that post was taking DIRECTLY from your own article and splashed with a little bit of my own commentary on each section. Did you not even read the article yourself?

Please continue to ignore that everything I have stated so far was in direct relation to everything that was said in that article.

Even if you want to ignore the burning aspect the 1st Amendment does not protect a person that is violating another persons Rights. Such as trespassing on private property. Chaining the doors of a mall closed to prevent people from going in...OR OUT. Chaining oneself to trains, while highly stupid, is also a violation of private property.

You want to conduct a peaceful protest? Fine. Do it on PUBLIC LAND. Not Private Property. And make damn sure that you're not violating anyone else's Rights because then your Rights are null and void.

What is not with in yours or anyone else's Rights however is violating other peoples rights to do so.

See how they're working things now, instead of burning, they're legally protesting, cops are arresting and violating people's first amendment rights, and Al Sharpton wouldn't be needed for this, this is trial attorney stuff.

I'm glad people think this if funny, I don't take it so lightly when people across the nation are protesting the flawed legal system. I might even join them here locally.

You see, when people gather together, and shut businesses down, they're accomplishing something. They're sending the message they wish to convey, and when it begins to hurt businesses in the pocket book, then the business owners begin to agree with the protesters and say they wish things would change too.

Nothing was ever accomplished by sitting in a living room watching television. People end up taking more than they can take, and start doing something to bring about changes.

No, they are not legally protesting. In order to legally protest you must not violate anyone else's Rights. Forcing businesses closed by chaining doors closed and chaining yourself to trains in order to stop them from moving is not legal and violates other peoples rights. Which again, no one has the right to do. 1st Amendment or otherwise.

Please show proof that the legal system is flawed. And remember, causation does not equal correlation.
