The plight of uninsured Americans and the hardships caused by unfair insurance company practices certainly needed to be addressed. But it wasn’t the change we were hired to make; Americans were crying out for an end to the recession, for better wages and more jobs; not for changes in their health care.
Chuck Schumer says Democrats shouldn’t have bothered to reform health care - The Washington Post
This is so shocking to hear from a Democrat that I wonder if hes being sarcastic. Is his message really praising Democrats for doing what was "right" instead of what was political? Beyond all that he makes some great points. Most healthcare spending is by govt programs already, the rest through employers where they dont pay alot. So the ACA didnt help very many people, and those people dont even vote. And this was all at a time when the focus should have been on jobs and economic growth, financial stability, not new and bigger govt socialism.
The same might be said if immigration now. Why is politics focused on something which will help very few people, at a time when security, debt, deficits, spending, taxes, are more important? And this is confirmed in polling. Voters dont want amnesty, and they dont care about immigration as much as they care about govt taxing and spending, and regulation.
