easy to say when your livelihood isnt threatened huh
I don't know. I have always stood up for myself without the need for a group to support me. When my boss told me the board decided no pay raises that year, I informed him that that there would be no more me showing up to work there at a time when I could have ill-afforded to lose my job and my boss knew very well that I couldn't as he tried to use that to get me to reconsider. I got my pay raise. When the boss told me to do something that I thought was too dangerous, I told him no. Decisions have consequences, and I choose not to cower. What you or someone else does or does not do is on you or them to live with. My philosophy about work is pretty straight-forward--Don't expect me to be a team player if you are not on my team too.
I think they something when I was last over called "small business Saturday" which I thought was a nice counter. It's getting to be the same in the UK now people stopped having milk delivered, local corner shop is dying out as are small butchers etc. Walmart bought out our main supermarket "Asda" and everyone seems to flock to the big name shops.
Yeah they push that in my town. There was an article about it in the paper today about small businesses in the same area of town bandying together to try to get people into their stores Saturday. I do not love Walmart and do not hate Walmart. They are a business like any other who use their advantages like any other. I go there sometimes, but mostly do not. The problem for me is that some of the other places are a huge pain to get into and out of because of the weird way a bunch of traffic patterns were altered to shoe-horn a new strip mall complex with like 60 stores into the mall/Walmart/restaurant area of town. Traffic floods this two-lane feeder road which makes left-turns impossible as there are no traffic signals except at each end of the road which none of the parking lots for the complex are routed into those intersections.
I mainly do online or mall anchor stores for most stuff. I also give a lot of gift cards.
