Reports: Ferguson grand jury has made decision

What about the press reporting Brown being shot with his hands in the air, not showing him at his current age, and all of that? Do you think it was irresponsible of them to incite a riot?

Funny how they were pissed about the no fly zone...and last night the ones on the ground were getting hit with bricks.

The press didn't report "facts." The press reported what witnesses were saying. Witnesses were saying a lot of different, contradictory things.

The press was doing its job. Which is to report what people were saying. If you interpreted that as being "facts," that is your problem, if you don't understand the difference between reporting a fact and reporting what a witness is saying.

That's why the GJ is so important. All the witnesses were presented in person, so they could be questioned, and their statements taken under oath. There were 60 witnesses. A lot of contradiction. Some witnesses, it turned out, didn't really see the incident, and some saw only part of it. The GJ waded through all the testimony, as well as the forensic evidence, and videotapes.

What the GJ heard and saw....that's evidence. What the press reports is what people SAY to them. Not evidence.

Press was reporting eyewitnesses who used their names regarding being shot with hands in the air. The eye fracture was made up, no named sources, just pure fiction. One blogger, known for making stuff up reported it, and the conservative media ate it up and reported it as fact.

Did you enjoy the mayhem and riots last night?

Sucks to need to do an oil change in Ferguson today.

Yep, we will soon be hearing from 'community organizers' in Ferguson complaining about the lack of shopping opportunities in their fair cities because 'racist' retail outlets refuse to rebuild or open in the area. Obama's sons really didn't heed his advice last night. Our first 'post-racial President' has really brought the country together with hope and change.

I was rolling laughing watching the split screen of Obama and the fires. Perfect.

So the eye witnesses that testified and the officers testimony means nothing to you.

Again, you are presupposing my comments, not a good way to argue.

Focus on my point, did the officer have an orbital blowout? No. Was that terrible reporting? Yes. That was my point, you can "what about..." all you want, but it is not germane to my point, is it?

I agree, most breaking news reports are bad.
That is why I state any news story needs to be verified. I for one do not take on the scene breaking news as being 100% correct.

Love you user name.

You are speaking about nice debate tactics? That is odd.
Yet here you are focusing on something that was dropped almost as immediately as it was suggested, and as such is irrelevant.
Not only is it irrelevant in that regard but it is irrelevant to what the Grand Jury considered.

But what wasn't irrelevant to the Grand Jury was that fact that the Brown supporting witnesses lied.
So how about you actual focus on something relevant?

So you just cant answer the question, you have to take a swipe. Great debate technique.

Unless Officer Wilson testified that he had an orbital fracture, the issue of the orbital fracture is completely irrelevant. Something tells me that the posts of a conservative blogger weren't brought into testimony and the decision making process, unless someone can prove otherwise.

The blogger who claimed the orbital fracture was wrong, but then again, it turns out that all of the internet posters who claimed that Wilson was a "murderer" because he "shot Brown in the back" were wrong too.

Your Aristotle quote in your sig line is a great reminder to everyone about how this all played out, and why justice was ultimately served.

AND YET you know damn well that when the press reported the people took the side they wanted as gospel and stuck to it. Check the protests going on right now for proof.

They wont do that at this point I don't think. The schools have closed for the week. They will want to go ahead and get it over with to so that all can be said and done by the holiday. I wouldn't be surprised if they waited till morning. Seems like riots would be a bit less intense and easier to handle during daylight hours. Could be wrong.

This is what I wanted to discuss.

I didn't think the Grand Jury would indite; neither the circumstances surrounding the shooting nor the evidence apparently was enough to call for a murder trial. The decisions made by authorities leading up to reporting of the Grand Jury's decision is what I found troubling.

I can understand closing calling out the National Guard, closing schools and businesses ahead potential violence considering all the rioting and looting that had happened weeks ago in Ferguson, MO, but reading the verdict at night? When you have far less of an opportunity to identify the trouble makers!?! IMO, this was a set-up, the conditions staged to get a specific outcome: RIOTING!

It's true that people are responsible for their own actions. So, regardless of what the authorities did it was up to the people to maintain calm and respect for the law and other people's property, but knowing that this Grand Jury decision was not going to be accepted by either side no matter what the decision turned out to be, why read the verdict at night? Authorities are saying it was to protect businesses and business owner's interests, but I don't think that had anything to do with it. It's the psychology of it all - under the ripe conditions people will fall to their lowest animal instinct - chaos and disorder, self-serving interest. No one can deny that the conditions weren't ripe for rioting to ensue once that verdict was read.

Any word of riots yet?

zOn TV the thugs are burning a car and breaking into a liquor store.

And now they are burning restaurants and a barber shop. They're idiotic animals.

The burned down an Advance Auto parts store. WTF!

Brilliant!! Make the announcement at night in the dark so all the punks and gangsters can burn and loot and not be identified. Burn your own town down, go ahead burn it all then take in all the people that lost their jobs because the building got destroyed and house and feed them until they can find a job somewhere in the pile of ashes. While the blacks see injustice the non-blacks see lawlessness so it is a perpetual, self-feeding disgust.

Let it burn, then make them live in the ashes.

Case and point....sad, really sad.

And as it seems the "eye witness accounts" were also pure fiction. It wasn't "conservative media" (btw just say fox) eating it up. You know the left was eating up the narrative too. Remember the pictures of that sweet innocent Michael brown?

Please don't pretend like this is a "conservative v democrat" issue. It isn't. The media has been a joke handling this entire thing.

I have to agree. Every time I saw that picture of a young Michael Brown wearing the headphones I kept asking myself, "Why don't they show a picture of Michael Brown as he really appears today? Older, bigger, not so innocent looking...

The answer was obvious...then they wouldn't get the sympathy of the viewers believing a child was killed instead of a young adult Black male.

I hate what has happened here with this police shooting. It turns my stomach not just because someone has lost a life or that someone's life has forever been altered, but because the people have been played on both ends.

In the older pic, he was white? And why did you capitalize 'black'; is that very important?

They're waiting for the cops and national gaurd to get in place, before the **** hits the fan. I believe they waited until today, because school is out for Thanksgiving.

Better they be in school than out.

Irrelevant on all points. Still, I capitalize the race or ethnicity of people; it's my writing style. I'd capitalize White just as easily as I would Asian, Chinese or even White when referring to a people. What's your point?

Yes, people are stupid.

Well, my first point is that you appear to claim that in the early pics of Brown he was a white person. Otherwise, your "Black" is superfluous yet, strangely, emphasized.

My second point is that while Chinese should be capitalized, black should not and nor should white. Don't you think that demonstrates an unhealthy level of obsession about race?

Remember how white folks rioted when OJ was acquitted? Neither do I.
