While Americans are focused on what delicious foods they’re going to eat for Thanksgiving, the White House is focused on releasing its massive regulatory agenda — marking the fifth time the Obama administration has released its regulatory road map on the eve of a major holiday. The federal Unified Agenda is the Obama administration’s regulatory road map, and it lays out thousands of regulations being finalized in the coming months. Under President Barack Obama, there has been a tradition of releasing the agenda late on Friday — and right before a major holiday.
“It’s become an unfortunate tradition of this administration and others to drop these regulatory agendas late on a Friday and right before a holiday

One of the most contentious rules is the Environmental Protection Agency rules to limit greenhouse gas emissions from new and existing power plants. According to the agenda, these rules will be finalized in 2015.
They have been criticized by Republicans and the coal industry for accelerating the demise of coal-fired power and for setting the stage for increases in electricity prices. Republicans, who are set to take control of the Senate next year, have vowed to fight EPA regulations.

But probably the most fought-over rules to be finalized by the EPA next year will be its redefining of the “Waters of the United States” under the Clean Water Act. The EPA will issue its redefinition next year, according to the agenda.
Federal lawmakers from both parties, along with companies from virtually every sector of the economy, have opposed the rule, saying it greatly expands the EPA’s power to regulate even small bodies of water on private property.

So, once again, here we go...The "most transparent administration in history" is hoping you won't notice what they are doing behind the curtain....Say goodbye to affordable energy, and even private property rights with this kind of crap...And the whole rub is that he does this without congressional input....Damn the people, we don't even need a congress anymore, we have a king.

Re: White House Quietly Releases Plans For 3,415 Regulations Ahead Of Thanksgiving Ho

Because we need more regulations.

I agree that the Obama adminstration is not transparent, but i would say this is not an example of that. You say that they hope you wont pay attention to this, that is not a problem of transparency, that is the problem of people simply being lazy...

It is not a very nice way to do politics and does not make people trust the man. But he cannot be reelected. So why should he care?

At least a ton.

Because we need more regulations.

We are never going to learn it seems. The more we appeal to government to fix some problem the more we are disappointed with the results. And now we need all these new regulations? Absurd.

The problem of transparency is in the timing that they choose to release information about what they do...Why else would they release this right before holidays? I'll tell you, because if they were to make known what they are doing there would be revolt!

He's going to do a lot of damage in 2 years if we take that stance on it....

Obama has to reduce coal consumption in the US because he has such a cozy "climate change" deal worked out with the Chinese where they'll get to use all the dirty US coal they want for the next 16 years while you freeze in the dark or fore go food in exchange for heat and light. Besides, the Chinese will pay top dollar for that good old American coal too.

And Obama will bask in the glory bestowed on him by the low information voters, referred to affectionately as stupid by their Democrat masters, who think Obama is the environment President.

Interesting, how did the Daily Caller get a hold of the report then?

A "revolt"?

I just wonder how I am going to afford my $500. electric bill, and my $6 loaf of bread on wages driven down by the newly ordained sort of citizens flooding the market that doesn't have enough jobs for everyone now?

If the problem were people simply being lazy, there would be no need for these shenanigans. A lazy populace wouldn't read or care about these regulations regardless of when they were released. This administration purposefully releases this information at this time knowing that most people will have a lot of other things on their mind (travel, family, vacation plans, etc.) that will pull their attention away from these releases. He also releases enormous packets of information at the same time, which takes a lot of time for a person to sift through. He could easily release smaller portions of information on a more regular basis, but that doesn't help him hide potentially harmful information. This isn't preying on peoples' laziness, this is playing on peoples' business.

No that is directly the country being lazy. Why do you think ****ing people dont even vote? Why, because they mainly dont care. We are an incredibly apathetic population.

I hope you have your Obama phone already - that should help some.

If the population was so lazy, why would the administration even need to only release information in giant packets and only at times that are personally inconvenient for the populace?

Would the population do anything different if it was released anywhere else or at any different time? No.

We are never going to learn it seems. The more we appeal to government to fix some problem the more we are disappointed with the results. And now we need all these new regulations? Absurd.

When "we" ask governments to fix problems, we forget often that governments will respond by increasing its power. Someone took a hate up for bottled water here, and next thing you know there are all kinds of bans...no sales of bottled water on city property....etc. And, of course they had to also give bylaw enforcers the power to "inspect" for such dangerous contraband.

In this and that case, the situation is further corrupted by "who" is asking for the "fix" as well as how. Too often, especially in the US of late, voters are not specific as to what they want fixed or how; Mr. Obama is approaching "immigration reform" by allowing some five million 'special people" stay until he is out of office which somehow many Americans see as both about immigration and reform when it is neither.

In the brave new world of the "stupid voter", the maxim "the voter always gets what they deserve" is perfectly true. I don't recall anyone every asking Mr. Obama just what his "comprehensive reform of immigration" would look like, nor has anyone since as he has stumped the country suddenly bleating about how 'they" have prevented him from doing so.

Both the timing and the volumes are of question. Amid a growing war over illegals he can drop pretty much anything he wants to as he has amid the debates about Obamacare and government shut downs...there is a side benefit to his ego-gratifying wars with Republicans. And, because like the ACA these regulations are voluminous and likely filled with "tortured language" no one but the victims will know anything until some homes have been lost.

Hey, these tactics have served him for six years now...is there any reason to change now?

You seriously gonna say that Americans are very politically involved? Do you wanna look at voter turnout?

Would the population do anything different if it was released anywhere else or at any different time? No.

This is probably why you believe that people are better off with a government telling them how to live.

It is worth noting that apathy and lazy are two different concepts.
