To be fair, the crime rate exploded, but so did prison populations. Today, violent crime has gone down for half a century and yet people are still arguing that we need to legislate more people into our prison system. The only constant in this issue has been that if you're extremely rich, you can avoid prison time thanks to affluenza.

This is going from bad to worse, all those running to the media saying they knew something.

Yep, at this point, even if Cosby didn't do it, the fact that he has been silent is more damning than anything else. Ironically, silence implies consent can be applied to quite a few things in this situation. At this point, there are too many questions:

Were the women silent because they agreed with what Cosby did to them?
Is Cosby silent because he did it and anything he says in public could be used against him?
Is he silent out of some sense of moral superiority?
Why was he paying these women off?
What do these women have to gain by coming forward?
What does this man have to gain by coming forward?
Why were the allegations not taken seriously by authorities?
What role did Cosby's lawyers play in keeping the women silent?
    Were some of them intimidated?

The list goes on and on.

This is a pretty great article on the subject. I'm just sickened by this. Like the article said, to believe Cosby you are not just taking his word over another person, you are taking his word over 15 different people.

To be fair, it's nothing new for multiple people to jump on the he-raped-me or affair bandwagon. However this argument is pretty convincing:

The Rape Accusations Against Bill Cosby Must Not Be Ignored - The Atlantic

A defense of Cosby requires that one believe that several women have decided to publicly accuse one of the most powerful men in recent Hollywood history of a crime they have no hope of seeing prosecuted, and for which they are seeking no damages. The alternative is to see one of the most celebrated public fathers of our time, and one of the great public scourges of black morality, revealed as a serial rapist.
That's pretty much the gist of it. These women aren't seeking damages. They aren't looking to get their faces on TV. So why come out with the accusations and reveal they were rape victims? It doesn't make sense this late in the race unless they're looking to damage Cosby's reputation as a wholesome icon. However, even that raises basic questions as to why and what they stand to gain...

Victim Status? Exorcising regrets? I don't know. Being a serial philanderer does not make him a serial rapist. What is "rape" is so distorted these days from what it was a generation ago, that I have trouble believing that he raped them as opposed to just used them.

Pens are functionally extinct. There are apps for that.
