Republican-led report debunks Benghazi theories and accusations

How so? I said that the Select committee was the final word, and that's what it is...Not moving anything...You're stretching.

Uh... What makes the select committee the final word? I'll wait. :)

Mark my words 20 years from now they will still be bringing up Benghazi anytime the Obama presidency is mentioned.

The Libbos can't seem to shutup about Beirut.

No matter what conclusion this report comes to, it doesn't change all the other lies the regime told about Benghazi.

About the Select Committee | Select Committee on Benghazi

The House on Thursday voted 232-186 to create a select committee to investigate the 2012 attack that killed four Americans at a diplomatic facility in Benghazi, Libya.

...creating a special panel was necessary to determine whether the administration painted a false narrative about the Benghazi attack to protect President Obama’s foreign policy record as he ran for a second term.

Need I really educate you as to how the process in congress works? I hope not.

I think this sums up your contribution here:

Two studies published in 2013 and 2014 have found that people who are identified as trolls tend to have dark personality traits and show signs of sadism, antisocial behavior, psychopathy, and machiavellianism.[37][38] The 2013 study suggested that there are a number of similarities between anti-social and flame trolling activities[37] and the 2014 study suggested that the noxious personality characteristics known as the "dark triad of personality" should be investigated in the analysis of trolling, and concluded that trolling appears "to be an Internet manifestation of everyday sadism."[38] Their relevance is suggested by research linking these traits to bullying in both adolescents and adults. The 2014 study found that trolls operate as agents of chaos on the Internet, exploiting hot-button issues to make users appear overly emotional or foolish in some manner. If an unfortunate person falls into their trap, trolling intensifies for further, merciless amusement. This is why novice Internet users are routinely admonished, "Do not feed the trolls!" The 2013 study found that trolls often have a high expectation of what it means to be successful, which is higher than they are able to attain, and this results in them resenting others who think they are successful but who fall below their standards.

No no j-mac, you're not doing that. You're stating why the committee was created. You're not educating anyone on why it is the 'final word' on the matter. Can you tell us why this committee is the final word on the issue ?

Reaching again....Your own OP went on to say:

"But the investigation also found the security at the diplomatic outpost was weak and it described a "flawed" process used to create talking points for House Intelligence Committee members and then-U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, whose public statements after the attack incensed critics who said the administration was avoiding calling the attack terrorism."

and...

"The Select Committee on Benghazi received the Intelligence committee's report on the Benghazi terrorist attack (in August), and has reviewed it along with other committee reports and materials as the investigation proceeds," spokesman Jamal D. Ware said in a statement. "It will aid the Select Committee's comprehensive investigation to determine the full facts of what happened in Benghazi, Libya before, during and after the attack and contribute toward our final, definitive accounting of the attack on behalf of Congress."

So, excuse me if I'd like to wait until the Select committee finishes their work...

And undoubtedly after the Select Committee finishes their work, you'll want to wait for another committee - until eventually you get a result that says not only was Hilary Clinton criminally negligent, but she actually planned the attack. You guys are nothing if not predictable.:lamo

Oh dear, what will the True Believers say now

I wonder why the report was released late on a Friday

http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2014/images/11/21/benghazi.report.pdf

Let's see. The Republican House authorized and co-produced a bipartisan report on the Benghazi attack and the deaths of an Ambassador and three brave former Marines and found that the CIA was not negligent in the lead up to and the handling of the situation as it happened. Americans should be proud of that non-political, bipartisan cooperation into a serious issue, and yet this thread is full of politics from those on the left without an apparent care for those who lost their lives.

I didn't see any reference to how the State Department or the White House handled the matter - both as it relates to security leading up to the attacks and the dissemination of false story lines following the events. Perhaps it's in the report or perhaps that was outside of the jurisdiction of the House Intelligence Committee.

Bottom line, those who complain that the House Republicans are driven solely by politics and attempts to embarrass the President and his administration should be heartened by the fact that at least some members of Congress are serious about their roles in oversight.

Direct Quotes from the Select Committee's Report:

  • The Committee first concludes that the CIA ensured sufficient security for CIA facilities in Benghazi....Appropriate U.S. personnel made reasonable tactical decisions that night, and the Committee found no evidence that there was either a stand down order or a denial of available air support....
  • Second, the Committee finds that there was no intelligence failure prior to the attacks. In the months prior, the IC provided intelligence about previous attacks and the increased threat environment in Benghazi, but the IC did not have specific, tactical warning of the September 11 attacks.
  • Third, the Committee finds that a mixed group of individuals, including those affiliated with Al Qa'ida, participated in the attacks....
  • Fourth, the Committee concludes that after the attacks, the early intelligence assessments and the Administration's initial public narrative on the causes and motivations for the attacks were not fully accurate....There was no protest. The CIA only changed its initial assessment about a protest on September 24, 2012, when closed caption television footage became available on September 18, 2012 (two days after Ambassador Susan Rice spoke)....
  • Fifth, the Committee finds that the process used to generate the talking points HPSCI asked for—and which were used for Ambassador Rice's public appearances—was flawed....
  • Finally, the Committee found no evidence that any officer was intimidated, wrongly forced to sign a nondisclosure agreement or otherwise kept from speaking to Congress, or polygraphed because of their presence in Benghazi. The Committee also found no evidence that the CIA conducted unauthorized activities in Benghazi and no evidence that the IC shipped arms to Syria.

And the relevance of your expanded comments to my post is?

Americans should be proud of that non-political, bipartisan cooperation into a serious issue, and yet this thread is full of politics from those on the left without an apparent care for those who lost their lives.

Was it the left or the right that was using this tragedy as political bludgeon for the past two years?

Leading, again, to wonder what these protests of "nothing there" are all about. Those howls began before the first witness was called or the parameters were announced.

In my experience, when there is push back to an investigation, like our own Jian Gomeshi or Bill Cosby, usually indicates some fear about what's there.

In the meantime, amid the chaos of completely partisan argument, the left has conveniently ignored the fact that their Commander in Chief has allowed the terrorists responsible to get away with killing Americans serving their country.

You can't really be astonished at the growth of terrorism when they are emboldened by nonsensical ass covering and partisan bickering preventing the assassins capture

Was it the left or the right that was using this tragedy as political bludgeon for the past two years?

It was only a left/right issue because many on the left wanted to dismiss the deaths of four Americans in a diplomatic facility as no big deal.

If you think this report absolves somehow any responsibility on the part of anyone in the government or the administration, you're not interested in government oversight and only interested in a political soundbite.

Conspiracy_theory_TVT_8130.jpg

That's the best you can do ?

How's that for irony? In that movie, the theories were completely true.

There would have never been any theories if the administration had been forthright in the first place.

The Libbos can't seem to shutup about Beirut.

Beirut?

He was the greatest baseball player of all time.

(I don't hear people talking about Beirut, you had to dig deep to make that one up)

Seriously, you demean yourself responding to a picture post. If they can't use words, they belong in kintergarden.

And, referencing a 17 year old fictional movie is rather lame in the first place. You are better than that

It's a movie based on conspiracy theories, which are true in a fictional word and not in the real world. That's the point.

Wrongest Post of the Year, 2014 nomination.

So, we have wasted taxpayer's money a seventh time and came up with the same conclusion every time.

Wait....lets have another investigation! Because:

BENGHAZI!!!!

Oh get off your high horse.

We're on a message board on the internet talking Benghazi for the ten thousandth time -- not working on some snooty college thesis project.

Sheesh.

What can I say, I actually like that movie. I'm a fan of Mel Gibson.

That's a lot of hoops to jump through in a lame attempt to make a point. Lol.
