NFL suspends Adrian Peterson without pay for at least rest of regular season

Would you have someone that beat their kids working for you?

Well, people with criminal records need to work just like everyone else. I'm not just going to disqualify someone from a job because they have a record. I'm going to determine if it is safe for me to hire them, and something that would be advisable for my business and if I feel comfortable with it, sure, I would hire them.

Now, would I maintain their employment if they committed a crime? Again, it depends. If I feel like keeping them around will not endanger their fellow employees or my consumers and isn't going to cause any real problem, sure, I would keep them around.

Independent arbitration for the Rice case may discover that Goodell knew about the video. That would be the end of his reign.

I'm under the impression that the owners are the only ones who can give Goodell the boot. I can be completely wrong on the matter, but from what Jerry Jones has said, the owners love Goodell.

And if the independent arbitration establishes Goodell had knowledge of the video the owners will boot him.

If that is the case, I would jump for joy and throw a party at my house. But in the mean time I won't be surprised if the owners stick it out with Goodell who has made owners richer and richer by the year.

The calls for his head would be deafening. Sponsors would act.

If the Sponsors act, then we'd see a change, certainly but what will the arbitration uncover that the public doesn't already know?

We know the NFL was sent the security footage of Ray knocking out Janay Rice. We know that once the video went public Roger went into full douche mode and indefinitely suspended Rice, and we know that everything Goodell has done since then has been backtracking and attempting to cover his own ass. If the calls for his dismissal as Commissioner fell on deaf ears before, what will be enough to get him fired this time around?

Honestly, I hope the Arbitration reveals that Goodell is a scum bag that kicks trick or treaters in the face and/or other horrible personality traits.

Who knew what and when.

Who knew what and when.

We know the Casino sent the elevator footage to the NFL office, and we know Roger Goodell was told about what happened in the Elevator between Ray and Janay Rice. It's been clear since the start of this whole thing Roger Goodell knew full well of the incident and acted poorly, and because of that he should be fired.

But the only people who can do anything about Goodell are the owners, and if the owners continue to make a profit despite Roger's shortcomings, they'll stick with him.

Goodell claims Rice lied to him and he was unaware of the video.

Goodell claims Rice lied.

What I have read, Goodell said Rice ambiguously described to him. Source

Then again, the article I listed didn't name the sources so this can be suspect as well but seeing as Ray told the Raven's front office and his coach about the incident I don't see why he wouldn't do the same for Goodell?

However, in his Friday news conference, Goodell said information Rice gave him in their meeting was “inconsistent” with what he eventually saw on security video, although Goodell did not elaborate.

"Outside the Lines" quoted four sources in September who said that Rice had told Goodell he struck Janay -- a claim Goodell has denied, saying that Rice's account to him in the June 16 meeting was "ambiguous." Goodell spent more than two hours testifying Wednesday.

The independent arbitration is to discover exactly who knew what when.

I personally don't think Adrian Peterson did anything wrong. As far as genuine child beating that I knew as genuine, then probably not.

Peterson (finally) disagrees.

In an exclusive interview with USA Today published Thursday night, suspended Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson expressed remorse for injuring his 4-year-old son and vowed never to use physical discipline on one of his children again.

"I won't ever use a switch again," Peterson told USA Today in his first extensive public remarks since being indicted for reckless or negligent injury to a child. "There's different situations where a child needs to be disciplined as far as timeout, taking their toys away, making them take a nap. There's so many different ways to discipline your kids."...

"No one knows how I felt when I turned my child around after spanking him and seeing what I had left on his leg," Peterson said. "No one knows that Dad sat there and apologized to him, hugged him and told him that I didn't mean to do this to you and how sorry I was.

The first grand jury didn't either.

Citation? You will not find one supporting your statement, beyond an incorrect headline.

On Saturday, Montgomery County First Assistant District Attorney Phil Grant addressed the media, saying the D.A.'s office takes all allegations of child abuse very seriously. Grant said a single grand jury decided to indict Peterson after reviewing evidence for a significant number of weeks.

Appears you are right about a single grand jury. I am just going off memory. Which if serves the story I remember that little factoid from is from ESPN. Oh well.

There was an article, at profootballtalk.com, that cited an incorrect headline from local news.

I knew there was a story about it just didn't remember where.

I aint playing in the basement with you. I suck at that sort of ****, most of it goes right over my head.

I have 3 kids. I can't say that any of them have ever looked like I horsewhipped them after I spanked them. If your 4 year old looks like you horsewhipped him after you spanked him, then you have done something wrong.

He literally beat a child bloody, leaving scars.

Lets face reality - and it is not a politically correct topic - the NFL has a brand problem as far too many of its players are simply low life thugs who most corporations appealing to a wide mass appeal audience would not want as the face of their image. Once you accept that reality - decisions like the one here become very understandable.

You don't see anything wrong with beating a child bloody, leaving scars.

I didn't see scars. What I saw were injuries consistent with a switch that wasn't properly prepped. Its one of the reasons I don't use them. Its my opinion on the matter, your not going to sway me otherwise. I don't think Mr. Peterson should have been charged in the first place. The child is his to discipline as he sees fit. The fact he actually disciplines his children is a rarity in society anymore I applaud anyone who would. It shows he actually cares for his children's well being and success as an adult. So I am more than willing to give Mr. Peterson the benefit of the doubt in his actions regarding his children.
