All of your "core arguments" involve disregarding the law.

I can not understand what conservatives consider immigration policy. Do they see the hundreds of undocumented children in some way that I don't? Yes they broke the law, but do conservatives not care about the fact that these kids are victims too? Where is the empathy? The compassion? The mercy?

I cannot understand what makes people ignorant to suffering, and that is when I contemplate darker motivations behind conservative logic.
Look...if you don't agree with the law...if you think it's too harsh...then change it. We have a process for doing that. Follow the process. But don't just disregard the law because you don't like it. (this is as much a message to Obama as it is to you)

After re-reading your post, I decided that this deserves an individual response.

You shouldn't assume that, just because someone respects and wants to uphold the law, they are ignorant of suffering. That just isn't true.

    Here is an example:

Colorado, essentially a conservative State despite the Democrat's success in getting elected to the State Legislature, recently legalized marijuana. One of the reasons it passed a vote by the people is because of the great number of people who were sent to prison for marijuana usage offenses. Marijuana was legalized with the help of MANY conservatives...including myself...who thought the law was too harsh and just plain bad. But guess what...we did it the right way. We changed the law. We didn't just disregard it.

So you want local police officers to enforce federal law?

if officers discover illegals they are supposed to turn them over to ice, what do you wish them to do let them go?

if i detain you as an officer i can ask you questions, look at your i.d. it is within my power as an office.

But you have suggested that they not only do that, but also go looking for them.

I don't think ernst barkmann suggested that police "go looking for them".

sangha, haven't you learned to not apply your bias-caused assumptions to your posts yet?

If you are stopped by an officer, you are being detained, even if it is just to answer questions. The Constitution forbids that without reasonable suspicion. Looking like a "Mexican" is not grounds for detaining anybody.

In contrast, last time the GOP shut down the government:

I'm sure that this time, a government shutdown will be positive for the GOPs image. Flight attendants, PR appointees and HS students will support this and it will give the GOP an even bigger majority in 2016. Using the shutdown option will also bring in support from Independents. They seem to be in favor of such things.
The funny thing in the last GOP government shutdown was watching them and all their lemming followers regurgitate that it was somehow Obama that was shutting down the government. What's funnier is that yesterday I saw Jindal already starting this double speak and saying that it would be Obama that would shut down the government if it happened this time as well.

If they want to shut it down, fine. Do it. But don't be such gutless wenches about it that you can't own up to your own damn actions.

NOTE the phrasing right now. WE may shut down the government because of Obama's actions. As it get's closer they will disavow the "WE" part and blame Obama for their actions. Again.

if you stop someone for just looking like Mexican, that is unlawful.

however if i do detain you for an infraction, i can ask you questions, you are not compelled to answer... but i can ask.

where is reasonable suspicion in the Constitution?
