How about not making up rules that are not included in any law to allow illegal aliens to stay in our country? For example, Obama, through EO, implemented the Dream Act. The only problem is...the Dream Act, while it was considered by Congress, was never passed into law. The EO doesn't enforce the current laws...it stands them on their ear.

Another example: The Senate passed a bill that would grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. That bill has not been enacted into law as yet. But Obama threatens, by the use of EO, to implement at least the amnesty part of that Senate bill. That will also stand our current laws on their ear.

So, Obama...instead of enforcing current laws is doing everything he can to make up his own laws...laws that have not been passed by Congress nor signed by him.
How much will it cost to find and deport every illiegal immigrant?

Besides some of these illiegals have been here for so long that they have developed roots here and their life expierance has been spent living in America. These people have lost their ties to their original country.

How much will it cost when 42% of them live on welfare, forever?

It would cost less to deport them. Once the word is out that there's a crackdown, most will self-deport.

Not as much as you think. Heck, I'm thinking it'll be cheaper than what it's costing us to keep them here.

If we were to enforce existing laws, a whole lot of those illegal aliens...maybe even a majority of them...would self-deport.

Anyway, your complaints about morality, bigotry and refugee status have all been a bust for you. Now you want to talk about cost? What other ridiculous reasonings are you going to come up with?

Oh... You want to know what I really think about immigration? You want me to offer my theory as to what the conservatives postition on immigration is? Go on, I'll play the clown for your amusement.

    Oh...sure...tell me.

btw, I posted a link earlier to the House Republican's position on immigration reform. Before you spout off with your "theory", I suggest you check it out. That way you won't make yourself look like a foolish clown when you get it all wrong.

Could you please post the link again? I want to consider everything before I post what I really think.

I suggest waving good-bye at the border as they leave.

Re: Republicans weigh government shutdown to stop Obama on immigration

I looked at the article in the question and one thing bothers me about its contents.

Why is the issue of the legal status of 11 million people the sticking point?

I admit that I previously was about to go on a tirade, most likely saying things that I would regret. For the sake of civil discussion let us ignore the position of politicians and only discuss our personal positions. That way we can hopefully avoid the use of insults.

My personal position isn't really important...especially in reference to the topic of this thread...but I'll tell you anyway.

    1. The law is the law. If we are going to have laws that address legal and illegal immigration, then we are beholden to abide by and enforce those laws or we should go through the proper process to change the laws.

    2. Border security is of paramount importance to ANY country. One of our government's primary duties is to provide for border security. An administration that shirks that duty is failing its citizens.

    3. The millions of illegal aliens who are currently IN this country need to be removed as soon as possible. There are many means to do this...any that work and that comply with existing laws should not be taken off the table.

    4. When it comes to illegal aliens, I do NOT have a bleeding heart. Everyone in life makes choices and every choice results in consequences of one kind or another. If someone chooses to enter our country illegally, the MUST abide by the consequences.

    5. There is the whole issue of legal immigration, guest worker programs, the various visas, etc. I'm not very knowledgeable about those issues, so I'll leave them up to others to decide the best way to deal with them. However, as with any other laws, once we have them in place...stick to them.
