The only thing that would be left to do is to improve and streamline the ability for people to come here LEGALLY.
Making it harder for illiegals to live would involve making it difficult for everyone to live.

Winner winner! That's exactly what needs to occur - the current process is long, expensive and the lawyers get very fat and lazy.
I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on whats being proposed here, hed agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute. - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.

How so? How would it affect citizens and legal immigrants?

I thought the point of those requirements was to make it long and expensive, In order to make acquriing citizenship worth somthing.

Perhaps you're right - but it no longer applies. Either people wanting to immigrate legally have something to offer the country and vice versa - or they do not. The process needs to be streamlined so it doesn't take $20,000 + dollars and 7 years to complete the process.

I could have sworn that right after the election McConnell said there would be no shut-downs. Maybe I didn't read the asterisk and long list of possible exceptions.

This debate is not just about the illiegals that were caught crossing the border, it is also about the ones that made it across the border and are currently living in the states.

Yes, it is. Our current laws can deal with them, as well.

The family of the murderer or the family of the illegal?
