Yeah, along with thousands of civilians and soldiers. Violence isn't ever going away, but people could stop being so damn lazy and bringing unrelated people into their conflicts.

The Turks Enter Iraq - TIME They moved in to cause unrest and to give Turkey a reason to move in to the region, very similar to what Russia has just done in Ukraine.

Apparently it was put into a movie popular in Turkey...
A couple of years later, in 2005, a movie called "Valley of the Wolves: Iraq" was released in Turkey. It used the Hood Event as a starting point to build up the "based on a true story" element, but then morphed into propaganda with scenes featuring American troops massacring civilians at a wedding and American doctors harvesting the organs of Iraqi's to send to Jews in Tel Aviv.

Only a matter of time before Turkey and Iran break up Iraq. It's a bigger fear for most Iraq's in Baghdad than ISIS is.

Interesting. Do you think Turkey has the capability to do as much?

The Turks are slow playing their hand. They wont go all in and openly engage in a war against ISIS instead they are more than happy to allow the Kurds to slow them down with the support of US air support. There is no way the Turks allow the Kurds a free state, I personally think they are waiting to see who wins in Kobane and will act accordingly. How else can you explain the build up of Turk forces on the border with so little military action thus far.

I figured the had built up forces to prevent fighting from spilling over, and to return fire if it came across the border. Like they are doing in Syria.

Turkey is also receiving quite a bit of tech and military equipment from the US and is a NATO member. That would be on the line should they "actively" contribute in the region.

And finally, does Turkey even have the military capacity for any sustained ops in Iraq?

Problem is from what I saw ( don't pretend to be an expert) there is no centralized government or leadership. Baghdad is waiting for a US ground invasion, Iran is doing nothing and NATO is not committing. All Tukey have to do is wait for ISIS to back away from Kobane and focus on the Anbar region. Once that happens all US/NATO efforts will be focused on Anbar/Baghdad meanwhile Turkey will be free to march in and "secure" Kobane and the region. I don't see the fight staying near the Turkish border and when it leaves I fully expect the Turks to provide a buffer zone with the troops they have already deployed.

Interesting how that might pan out...Turkey moving into northern Iraq. I'd suspect ISIS would continue the fight, and the US would be against it.
What makes you say Baghdad is waiting for a US ground invasion?
