The other thing is there really isn't any comparison to the "Redskin" name and what Rangel did. The Redskins have had that name for many decades. For many years nobody said a word about it, and then when our politicians for some reason felt compelled to interject themselves in the discussion, it became a hotly contested issue.
There is debate on the offensive nature of the name of the football team. Some say it is, some say it isn't. It's an old name, and wasn't initially chosen out of disrespect to any group.
Calling a group of people you detest "white crackers", and then feigning ignorance and actually claiming you thought it was a "term of endearment", is just beyond comprehension.
These 2 debates aren't even in the same hemisphere.
Amen. Yet it appears that others want to make it the same argument in order to try an excuse what Rangel did.
