Obama to voters after Republican sweep of Congress: 'I hear you'......

Mornin HBuddha. :2wave: Did you hear the other thing that BO peep said. He said he also heard the 2/3rds that didn't vote. This is all one needs to hear.....to know that he is full of **** about working with the Repubs. He was doing a lil save face time. He still can't believe this was about him and his policies.

That he still believes in what he started in 2008. Trully he is a Narcissist. The signs, behavior and his own worda. Bears that out.

Although.....when he comes back with that Pen line. Someone needs to check his ass with the Question. Do you think you are above the Law? As in whoa Mr President, did you just say you were above the law. Right there in front of the Media coverage. Then watch how much stuttering he does.

Greetings, MMC. :2wave:

I wonder what it was exactly that he thinks he heard from the silent 2/3's of the people who didn't bother to vote? They didn't care enough to get out of bed; they believed the pollsters that it was going to be a Republican landslide and figured 'why bother'; or they silently figured that might be a good thing and why vote against it;.... or what?

The Dems were frantically trying to get Dems registered to vote, and to get out there and vote, but it didn't matter - they didn't care. Losing the Governorship of Illinois, Obama's home State where he and Michelle both campaigned, had to really hurt, but he heard the 2/3rds of the people? Hogwash! He really should think about the millions of people across the country who did care enough to vote, and consider why they voted the way they did! Whitewashing on his part can't change the results. Unusual spinning tactic, though, and a sign from him that he intends to keep doing what he wants to do, and the hell with everyone else! Welcome to la-la land - it must be a comfortable place to hide and ignore reality!

Funny. When I heard Obama say that, I came away with the compelling impression of 'I hear you, but I'm going to ignore you', which would be right in his character and the track record that he's established to date. Next this you hear is that he's planning an Illegal Alien Amnesty Executive Order before the end of the year. THe Amnesty question is one where the largest percentage of the electorate from all demographics are against.

So, yea, 'I hear you, but I'm going to ignore you'.

What say me? Well, the exit polls indicate that 76% of the voters are dissatisfied with our republican led congress. So, what do we do? We elect MORE of them. I say we get what we deserve.

I wouldn't say it is just the Republicans, I mean, generally people have had it with incumbents and Congressional approval rating is in the teens if I recall correctly. And yet people still vote the same way. However, we really have to ask why that occurs. I think that at least a part of it has to do with the two-party system itself. You don't really have any other options. You can get screwed over one way by Candidate A or screwed another way by Candidate B.

Well, he thinks those that voted only make up 1/3rd of the population and that all 2/3rds were still with him. Downplaying the overwhelming crushing defeat in all areas.....That He and his party took. Someone in the Media should have jacked his ass. Right then and there. Interrupting him and then putting him into that gotcha moment.

Obviously, Republicans had a good night. And they deserve credit for running good campaigns. Beyond that, I’ll leave it to all of you and the professional pundits to pick through yesterday’s results.

What stands out to me, though, is that the American people sent a message, one that they’ve sent for several elections now. They expect the people they elect to work as hard as they do. They expect us to focus on their ambitions and not ours. They want us to get the job done. All of us in both parties have a responsibility to address that sentiment.

Still, as president, I have a unique responsibility to try and make this town work. So, to everyone who voted, I want you to know that I hear you. To the two-thirds of voters who chose not to participate in the process yesterday, I hear you, too......snip~

I think he heard what people said with their votes - he just doesn't care.

The GOP would do best by making Obama's veto pens run out of ink. Let him veto hundreds of bills, regardless if the veto's can be overturned or not.

Mornin Ockham. :2wave: For some reason he thinks people want him to get the job done.....Is that a promise he wont be out on the golf course so much?

"I hear you"?! Isn't that his job? Watching him squirm in his speech on address to the nation Wednesday I was taken by his inability to annunciate the word "to". He says "ta", "We have ta get better" for example. He is The President of the United States and it is sickening that he reduces the office to that of a street peddler.

Transcript: President Obama

Odd, but until he took the helm, we've always had leaders who negotiated and compromised for the good of the country. Even Clinton did a 180, and is now fondly remembered as a good President. I wonder how Obama intends to "make the town work?" Telling Reid to shut the Senate down wasn't a really great move, IMO! That caused complaints from his own party, let alone the Republicans, and we saw the results Tuesday when the Senate changed hands by a larger than expected margin!

Well one thing is for sure Lady P.....he won't be painting it Red. Do you think BO sounded like a gracious Loser?

He doesn't like to face reality if things don't go his way - hence his reference to "hearing the 2/3rds," which is just spin but it sounds good to losers - so no. We all know he's going to continue to try to do whatever he feels like doing, regardless of what anyone else thinks, including his own party.

They haven't been seated yet.

That is the part that bothered me most of all. He was saying that in order to say that this election was not valid as far as he was concerned.

There was not 100% turn out in 2008 when he was elected either, so does that invalidate his election?

I think he heard what people said with their votes - he just doesn't care.

The GOP would do best by making Obama's veto pens run out of ink. Let him veto hundreds of bills, regardless if the veto's can be overturned or not.

Couldn't Obama let the bills sit on his desk, or in his trash can, as the case may be, and not do anything with them like Reid did?

Is he required to approve or veto a bill on his desk?

Heya Mason :2wave: Not to mention that he thinks all 2/3rds are for him.

Later that day he talked about it was still to early to tell about THE strategy to defeat ISIS. Wherein he got that part wrong to.....as its his strategy. Not that of the experts involved.

Are you suggesting that the GOP is not currently the majority in congress? I must have missed the memo. My bad.

You're right. The menu only offers Cow-poop Soup or Dog-turd Chili. Either way, there is a most unpleasant after taste.

The Republicans do not control Congress. They control the house right now and the Dems control the Senate.

Next year we will see how it goes.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama acknowledged on Wednesday that "Republicans had a good night" with sweeping election victories in Congress and said he got a clear message from voters that it was his responsibility to break a Washington gridlock.

"As president, I have a unique responsibility to try and make this town work," the Democratic president said at a White House news conference. "So, to everyone who voted, I want you to know that I hear you." .....snip~

Obama to voters after Republican sweep of Congress: 'I hear you'

Did someone else hear that bit on BO agreeing with anyone? Cuz I have known many that would say that they hear ya? Or heard you. But that doesn't mean they listened. Sometimes it requires more than just talking to get ones full and undivided attention. Repubs can't just talk. What say ye?

He's a little busy wiping evidence off anything that contains it. ;)

Tim-

Hey Hicup. :2wave: That wont mean anything if another one of his people leak out info.....again!

He will give in more than in the past, but Republicans thinking this will give them carte blanche with the President's key legislation will have a good reality check. Republicans can expect passing a limited amount of legislation easily. Start there.

You're so right! That's why you're hearing Spkr Boehner and Sen. McConnell talk about putting forward bills that have bipartisan support. They understand fully

House Speaker John Boehner and Senator Mitch McConnell, the incoming majority leader...want to score victories early in 2015 to show voters Congress can function...

"Enacting such measures early in the new session will signal that the logjam in Washington has been broken, and help to establish a foundation of certainty and stability that both parties can build upon."

This is why you won't see things like an ObamaCare repeal bill coming out of Congress but instead you'll bills presented as "small fixes" to what are viewed as problems with the law, i.e., fixing the part-time work definition in the law and redefining the 40-hour work week as full-time employment. If Senate Republicans are sincere in seeking bipartisanship we shouldn't see "poison pills" placed in bills, i.e., approval of the Keystone XL pipeline thrust into a tax bill instead of an energy bill or jobs bill.

We'll see if the GOP can truly reach across the isle and govern. If they do manage to wage bipartisanship it'll be because this time they know the country is watching them very closely. This time the parlor tricks must end - and that's not exclusively meant for the Right.

You're right. The menu only offers Cow-poop Soup or Dog-turd Chili. Either way, there is a most unpleasant after taste.

Whaddaya mean after taste? The whole thing tastes horrible from the first bite! ;)

Next year we will see how it goes.

You are so right. I keep getting my wires crossed. I was thinking Congress/Senate instead of House/Senate.

I'm losing it. What can I say?

What say me? Well, the exit polls indicate that 76% of the voters are dissatisfied with our republican led congress. So, what do we do? We elect MORE of them. I say we get what we deserve.

That's inaccurate, to say the least. At time of voting we did not have a Republican led Congress.

I stand corrected. I was thinking Senate.

These senior moments are starting to come more frequently these days.

But, my point remains. People are very unhappy with republicans, (as well as with democrats, IMO) and the voters, by majority, do not want the GOP ideology treading on them. So, what do they do? Elect more republicans. That makes real good sense. Not.

They're so unhappy with Republicans that they overwhelmingly voted for them.

Yeah, that'll teach em.

Welcome to politics. I think the question of will the Republicans now decide to work with Obama or not. McConnell has given up on repeal of Obamacare, which is probably a good start.

Has he? I just read in the Wall Street Journal an editorial by McConnell outlining his goals, and you better believe repealing Obamacare was on that list.
