Can't you just smell the desperation?

Let me know when a Republican candidate for President gets 15% of the vote and I'll listen to you.

Re: Meet Mia Love. You’ll be seeing a lot more of the Republicans’ first black [W:110

You illustrate my point: you think black people are stupid enough to fall for the fear tactics, forever.

and you think black people are stupid enough to believe the election of this woman changes the nature of the Republican party.

Re: Meet Mia Love. You’ll be seeing a lot more of the Republicans’ first black [W:110

How many black women in Congress can the Dems claim to...that were elected in mostly white districts?

Who cares? If this woman was elected in a conservative white district, then she's saying whatever conservative whites want to hear. Means nothing.

Re: Meet Mia Love. You’ll be seeing a lot more of the Republicans’ first black [W:110

No, it happens. And when it does happen, the Far Right acts as though the world has now changed in their favor. It's an anomaly, just like Alabama electing a liberal white guy to anything would be.

I don't think anyone said the world changed for us, EXCEPT YOU.

You responded to my post, no one twisted your arm.

Well, wasn't that the purpose of the OP -to show how progressive Republicans have become in race relations? Sure it was.

Well, I've long considered it my obligation to bring enlightenment to the unenlightened. It's tiring and unrewarding work, but somebody has to do it.

Just like the election of a black dem male upset a lot of right wingers, right?

th

Well.....they weren't just Right Wingers.

It's amazing how much John Kerry resembles Lurch.

lol It's uncanny how much Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan looked like the Munsters....

You're tiring alright.

To contrast the false leftwing meme that the Right is nothing more than bigots, racists and homophobes.

Re: Meet Mia Love. You’ll be seeing a lot more of the Republicans’ first black [W:110

I don't know if it's desperation or something else, but it's been a while since I saw a thread that contained so many lying posts and so many off the wall posts. The election of a black conservative female is sure upsetting a lot of posters.

Meh

.....You know how it is TB when Black Conservatives make something of themselves. Or even other minorities. ;)

NAACP Releases Statement On 2014 Elections, But No Mention Of Mia Love Or Tim Scott's Historic Wins.....

The NAACP has given Townhall a statement on the 2014 Midterm Elections: The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is committed to leading the effort alongside other civil and human rights organizations and our newly elected Congress to pass a robust Voting Rights Act Amendment.

Equal access to voting remains paramount as numerous reports of voting irregularities emerged during the midterm elections yesterday. Malfunctioning voting machines, voters turned away because of erroneous voter ID laws, missing names of registered voters and long lines were among the major challenges that the NAACP fielded along with our Election Protection partners via the 1-866-Our-Vote hotline. We assert that passage of a robust Voting Rights Act Amendment is essential for the states previously protected under section 5 as well as for all Americans for the sanctity of our republic. We urge the newly elected Congress to join us in ensuring that all registered voters in our great country have unfettered access to the ballot box.

Cornell William Brooks, President and CEO of the NAACP: “This election was not about who won but the rather the citizens who lost the right to participate. This first election post the Shelby vs. Holder decision resulted in problems in every single state previously protected by the Voting Rights Act. For 49 years, these states were singled out because they had a history of discriminating against American voters. The Election Protection Hotline we manned with other concerned organizations fielded over 18,000 calls yesterday, many in those same states previously protected by the VRA. As we move forward—it is imperative that our newly elected Congress work with the NAACP and our partners to pass Voting Rights Act Amendment legislation that assures that all Americans have the franchise—our very democracy depends on it.”.....snip~

NAACP Releases Statement On 2014 Elections, But No Mention Of Mia Love Or Tim Scott's Historic Wins - Matt Vespa

Naturally the NAAACP was asked that with Love and Scotts Historic wins.....does this mark progress. Looks like they will be waiting on that answer for sometime.

Oh, that's the NON Partisan NAACP.

Why does skin color matter anyway? She got elected for her views and leadership experience. She was judged on the content of her character and not by the color of her skin, and her accomplishment of becoming a Congresswoman should be celebrated, not put down.

She doesn't have a hang-up about race, too bad there are so many people that do.

Re: Meet Mia Love. You’ll be seeing a lot more of the Republicans’ first black congre

The OP was a Yahoo article noting that she is the first black female GOP Congressional rep. You seem surprised that we're talking about her race and sex in the posts. It's what the purpose of the article was all about.

Actually my post to this thread pointed out how she's the only Republican House member that's black. Then I got two responses that were pretty much "dem liberuls always bringing in race" blah blah blah...hiccup blah blah blah.

What you're quoting is my response to them...that this thread is pretty much entirely about her race. Seems like you should be talking to Grant maybe?

Of course this thread is about her race. Did you read the title of the Yahoo article I used in the subject line, and read their article itself?

Damn good looking family. She's got some smile on her.

Re: Meet Mia Love. You’ll be seeing a lot more of the Republicans’ first black congre

Besides being young, black, female, Mormon and mayor of a housing development in the middle of arguably the most conservative, white state in the union....what is so special about Mia Love?

That she doesn't fit the Democrat propaganda.

Re: Meet Mia Love. You’ll be seeing a lot more of the Republicans’ first black [W:110

and you think black people are stupid enough to believe the election of this woman changes the nature of the Republican party.

What is the nature of the Republican party?

Re: Meet Mia Love. You’ll be seeing a lot more of the Republicans’ first black [W:110

Must be why Republicans are so wildly popular in the South. And what - 1970 was a hundred years ago? That sort of mindset doesn't disappear overnight. Saying there are and have been black Republicans says nothing. So what? Until the Republican party demonstrates that it gives a damn about black voters - or Hispanic voters - and stops actively courting the southern white bigot vote, it will remain irrelevant to minority voters.

Can you educate me on what specific ways the Republicans are "actively courting the southern white bigot vote"? I live in NH so I'm not in the south nor am I a bigot, so I wouldn't know how they are doing that.

What are the black and Hispanic voters looking for that the Democrats are delivering to them, by the way? I'm also curious about what is in their platform that is specifically beneficial to either or both of those groups, and are targeted to them and not the southern white bigots?

And is Mia Love stupid for picking the Republican side to run on? From the sound of your post it would appear that the Republicans made a big mistake helping to elect a black woman if their target demographic is southern white bigots? And how do they explain their support of Tim Scott to all the white bigots in South Carolina? He seems an odd choice in the middle of the area they supposedly are trying to demonstrate an aversion for minorities in order to impress the white bigots.

Let me know when a Republican candidate for President gets 15% of the vote and I'll listen to you.

Bush got 11% of the black vote in 2004, up from 9% in 2000. Dole got 12% in 1996 (against the country's "first black President" no less). So as long as it's under 15%, they're doing the right thing...right?
