I'm glad she did too Grim! I first saw her in 2012 and was really impressed. She is a really neat woman.

And of course we all know that no other politicians' race and gender has ever been the topic of a news article or mentioned by anyone, right?
I'm not blaming anyone..I'm pointing out to a poster that this thread is about the woman's race and gender....

I don't think they will move on from it any time soon. That's one of their major powerplays, to play on ignorance of the voting populace.

The OP was a Yahoo article noting that she is the first black female GOP Congressional rep. You seem surprised that we're talking about her race and sex in the posts. It's what the purpose of the article was all about.

The word "BLACK' is only allowed to be nonracist if mentioned for a
Conservative Republican such as Justice Thomas, Congresswoman Love and Senator Scott .

My experience is that my friends who are black, tend to be much more conservative than I, but they still vote for democrats, and it's most likely due to their being told, perhaps not literally, but by example, that they are expected to mark D at the ballot box. There are whites who have been, and to a certain extent, still are that way, because they were raised in the south, where being democrat used to be a given. My father-in-law (who is no longer living) used to tell me about how his dad told him he had to vote democrat, because "you were born a democrat". THat is the kind of crap many people have been exposed to, and it's hard to break the mold that you are expected to conform to.

Minorities are often socially conservative. I figure this is due to a lower incidence of multi-generational education.

For myself, and especially for racial minorities, racism is a major issue. I cannot imagine living under systemic privilege, so they must be far more aware of it than I. People rarely have problems with voters interested in some issues more than others. It only takes a tiny bit of education, understanding and empathy, to see how racism could be a pretty big issue for those ****ed by it. I've never heard of a liberal racist organization. The GOP seriously needs to improve their image therein.

Besides being young, black, female, Mormon and mayor of a housing development in the middle of arguably the most conservative, white state in the union....what is so special about Mia Love?
