no, i dont think it is.

since other blacks who have been part of the republican party have been demonized.

No one believed republicans cannot elect a black person. That's a stupid strawman. No sane person believes the GOP is radically and strictly racists. And no sane person believes racists are more common among liberals.

Look at the biggest and most influential race-based organizations in this country and see which side of the political spectrum they fall under.

republicans have already elected black men...this is not new.

however with the current demonetization, war on women, war on the poor, war on minorities, war on gay people and the republicans being so hate filled and mean and uncompromising........this kind of election was not supposed to happen.

It's been over 30 years since Reagan first called black women "welfare queens" and it's been almost 20 years since the GOP reformed welfare and yet...Conservatives still use welfare to demonize black women. So knowing that most blacks are left wing...tell me again about how the left demonize blacks?

Then why the strawman?

Spare us the BS. Find something else to pat yourself on the back about.

A mentally challenged child is capable of understanding race-based does not equal racism.

For at least half a century, the party of Lincoln has battled charges that it is racist, sexist and anti-immigrant.

Today, voters from a conservative state made those arguments a little bit harder to make. In Utah, Mia Love became the first black Republican woman — and first Haitian American — elected to Congress.

For the GOP — a house divided that faces significant demographic hurdles to winning the White House in 2016 even as it celebrates President Obama’s shellacking — this was huge. A party threatened with electoral extinction among African Americans and immigrants now has someone to brag about in Washington. In a wave election less about fresh Republican ideas than fervid disapproval of all things presidential, Love’s compelling personal story is an oasis. She’s not just a black face in what’s often described as a party full of angry old white men. She’s a path forward.

Meet Mia Love. You’ll be seeing a lot more of the Republicans’ first black congresswoman. - The Washington Post

Good for her. I've followed her for a while now. The daughter of Haitian immigrants.

So much for all Republicans being racist and sexist.

I certainly wouldn't call all republicans racist, sexist and homophobic.

My experience is that my friends who are black, tend to be much more conservative than I, but they still vote for democrats, and it's most likely due to their being told, perhaps not literally, but by example, that they are expected to mark D at the ballot box. There are whites who have been, and to a certain extent, still are that way, because they were raised in the south, where being democrat used to be a given. My father-in-law (who is no longer living) used to tell me about how his dad told him he had to vote democrat, because "you were born a democrat". THat is the kind of crap many people have been exposed to, and it's hard to break the mold that you are expected to conform to.

Your statement is true. Some people vote democrat blindly. Just like there are some people who vote republican blindly. I know that for a fact living in Dallas.

Also, you would be amazed at how manly black people who are conservative. Think about it.

1) We take our faith very serious
2) We don't trust government (do research on the black panther movement)
3) As a whole, we are probably more anti homosexual than any race out there.

What is stoping many blacks from switching to conservative is the feeling of being the enemy to many in your base. Primarily in the southern and midwest region.

Race-based is what racism is. As long as we support the idea of defining people by race, we will fight racism. The Klan was a race-based organization, Nation of Islam is a race-based organization and in both cases it is the fact that they are race-based that makes them racist. We need to stop defining people by race and anything that doesn't do that is racist.

Re: Meet Mia Love. You’ll be seeing a lot more of the Republicans’ first black congre

Race-based is what racism is.

That's too stupid to believe sincere.

gee thanks. and I wouldn't call all liberals fatheaded idiots with the emotional fortitude of a 12 year old girl.

Re: Meet Mia Love. You’ll be seeing a lot more of the Republicans’ first black congre

just stating what has been said over the last decade or so.....i know many people dont like like truth.

Yeah, yeah, the Truth. The Truth about how poor innocent conservatives are abused by those horrible liberals.

You poor victim.

sorry ....i didn't say anything of the sort....i just stated what was said..that's all.

so my post .....the connection to the congresswoman, to how she is a surprise in the republican party to democrats.

Re: Meet Mia Love. You’ll be seeing a lot more of the Republicans’ first black congre

That's too stupid to believe sincere.

Sorry if you can't see truth, but the fact remains that raced-based orgs. are racist. Just as nation based-orgs. are nationalist. The Sons of Norway are a nationalist organization and the NAACP is a racist organization. The minute you start filtering out people by race, you become a racist org., it's a simple truth that you seem to be in denial of. Too many people think that racism is only when you look down on someone else for not being the same race as yourself, but the truth is that racism is when you separate one race from another for any reason.

Re: Meet Mia Love. You’ll be seeing a lot more of the Republicans’ first black congre

Sorry if you can't see truth,

Wow, this thread is filled with Truth.

Anyway, I cannot take your position of "race-based = racist" seriously. Even elementary school children understand otherwise. Could you apologize for racism any more? I don't think so. Good day.

Re: Meet Mia Love. You’ll be seeing a lot more of the Republicans’ first black congre

She'll be very lonely if she starts a Republican Black Caucus.....

She will likely be quite happy not to have to. ;)

I remember Mia Love, back in 2012 liberals called Mia an "anchor baby."

GOP Rising Star Mia Love: "Anchor Baby"? (Updated) | Mother Jones

Heya Apache. :2wave: They were worse than that with her in 2012. Then after she Gave the Republican speech.

Mia Love, Republican Mayor In Utah, Receives Photos Of KKK Member, Aborted Fetuses.....

Utah mayor and GOP congressional candidate Mia Love was sent an envelope containing racist and disturbing photos. The black, female Republican says she's become a target because she "poses a problem to the policies of the Obama administration." The thick envelope arrived at Love's office in Saratoga Springs, Utah, City Manager Mark Christensen told the Deseret News. The envelope reportedly contained a photo showing Love, her husband and a hooded Ku Klux Klan member as well as pictures of aborted fetuses.

Love responded to the "divisive racially and negative racially" photos, saying "I want you to know, I want everyone to know I am comfortable in my skin. I'm comfortable and proud of my heritage..." the Deseret News report.

Back in August, Fox News reported that Love's Wikipedia page had been "vandalized" with racist and sexist epithets after she delivered her speech at the Republican National Convention in Tampa. Fox News reported offensive language to the Wikipedia page read "dirty, worthless w---e," "sell-out" to the "right wing hate machine" and "House N-----."

Re: Meet Mia Love. You’ll be seeing a lot more of the Republicans’ first black congre

Yes, blacks don't vote dem because they prefer the dems to repubs. They do it because they're expected to or because someone else told them to. As long as the repubs explain the black vote using language that portrays them as stupid and irresponsible, the black vote will continue to go dem
Actually that was the Democrats who believe Blacks are inferior and have often passed legislation reflecting that belief.
"Tainting the tea party movement with the charge of racism is proving to be an effective strategy for Democrats. There is no evidence that tea party adherents are any more racist than other Republicans, and indeed many other Americans. But getting them to spend their time purging their ranks and having candidates distance themselves should help Democrats win in November. Having one’s opponent rebut charges of racism is far better than discussing joblessness." -- Mary Frances Berry, former Chairwoman, US Commission on Civil Rights

This has been the strategy of the Democrats since Lyndon Johnson was president. There seems to be a hope that this deliberate divisiveness of the American people in order to gain political office is beginning to be recognized by the majority of the American electorate.
