What I believe to be the case, is that republicans have been accused of being racist, sexist, pigs, and the point of the op/thread, is that it isn't the case. REpublicans have been accused of not wanting to vote for women or minorities based on racism, but the actual case is that they have had very few in the republican party who have run, so there hasn't been much opportunity TO vote for women and minorities. There is no way in hell that I am going to vote for a woman or minority with whom I don't agree on policy. Give me a woman or minority that I agree with on policy, and they have my backing 100%. THis isni't about race, no matter what democrats would like us to believe. It's about whether or not we can support someone on policy. I sure as hell didn't vote for Obama, but if a black man or woman had been running against him, you can bet your ass I would have voted for that opponent. And if a black man or woman was running against a white democrat, you can still bet your ass that I would vote for the black man or woman. I have no great love for republicans, but I don't like the vast majority of democrats.

Nearly every conservative/right-libertarian on this site, with exceptions of course, has whined about how "liberals bring race into everything" and how "democrats use skin color to win elections." Seems a bit hypocritical when everytime a black man/woman runs as a Republican I get that fact shoved all the way down my throat. Put up a principled candidate, **** their race or gender. That's what I hear Republicans constantly say, so they should live up to their own standards.

This part I tend to agree with. I don't think the "All Republicans are racist" argument happens as often as the GOP likes to say it does, in fact it really doesn't happen that much at all. but it happens occasionally and when I see it, I call it out.

It's like having elected a black woman they want the KKK declared to be not racist because blacks and gays have been oppressing white hetero males for a generation or 3 (or 100, haha).

So, let's everyone admit that we've treated the hetero white males unfairly and we offer reparations.

No, it's off topic because the thread is not about Ronald Reagan or what he did and didn't say.

I have a lot more to say, but there has been a Mod warning. Why don't you start a thread and you can educate us.

Around here, you're much more likely to run into something about Robert Byrd to prove that all Democrats are the KKK.

Excuse me? Who shoved something down your throat here? Do you see my thread as shoving something down your throat?

I don't know many Mormons but I do know some Catholics and you're right now that I think of it. They seemed to have a hard time masking their contempt for Romney's religion (and also my boy Huntsman).

I don't know, her parents seem pretty damn proud of her, as they should be. She's a cool chick.

No, he didn't. But out of respect for Gina, I wont say more, except that - he never said those words.

Back to Mia Love. I think she's adorable. There was a great CNN opinion piece on her you may enjoy:

    Hey tres

I wasn't talking about this thread specifically, just the topic in general. Your thread is fairly neutral compared to what I've seen. I wish Love the best in Congress. My comment was sparked after hearing about it all ****ing day. All over Facebook, all over this forum, all over FOX, all over Twitter. Even some of my coworkers today were talking about it. I'm rather frustrated that I have to simultaneously be accused of bringing up race too much and hear about every time the GOP elects a black representative.

P.S Change your avatar, it's not Halloween anymore.

I am hoping that we will eventually be able to destroy the image that Republicans hate minorities and women. Those are two of the biggest lies of my lifetime, and it just pisses me off that dems have been able to use those lies for their own gains for decades.
The GOP doesn't need black women to break that imagine. The white guys in charge of the party could start breaking those stereotypes with leadership and policies.
