I bet that went over with her family like a lead baloon.

Catholics don't have much use for LDS. She is smart to convert as a politician in UT though.

He never used the words "welfare queens". It's beyond pathetic that idiotic lies get repeated through the generations so that the unknowing who walk among us actually think the leftist lies are true. Amazing.
What is pathetic is that these lies are so frequently told when it is so easily demonstrated to be untrue. Were Democrats more schooled in actual history rather than the lies they've been taught to believe, it's doubtful they would have the numbers to launch a political campaign.

Why he doesn't get dinged for that type of flaming is beyond me.

Oh, it was more leftist 'reading between the lines'??? It's off-topic only when liberals are embarrassed by their own.

You wish it were a lie...but Reagan did in fact base his welfare queen story on a black woman from Chicago that had bilked the system....

"...Linda Taylor, the haughty thief who drove her Cadillac to the public aid office, was the embodiment of a pernicious stereotype. With her story, Reagan marked millions of America’s poorest people as potential scoundrels and fostered the belief that welfare fraud was a nationwide epidemic that needed to be stamped out. This image of grand and rampant welfare fraud allowed Reagan to sell voters on his cuts to public assistance spending. The “welfare queen” became a convenient villain, a woman everyone could hate. She was a lazy black con artist, unashamed of cadging the money that honest folks worked so hard to earn....."

Linda Taylor, welfare queen: Ronald Reagan made her a notorious American villain. Linda Taylor’s other sins were far worse.

Did you notice that just above the paragraph you posted, the Slate article stated it was not Reagan who coined the phrase "welfare queen" but it was the Chicago Tribune?

"Her name was Linda Taylor, and it was the Chicago Tribune, not the GOP politician, who dubbed her the “welfare queen.” It was the Tribune, too, that lavished attention on Taylor’s jewelry, furs, and Cadillac—all of which were real."

TB is right, these lies the left likes to drum into the ignorant do nothing but eliminate any credibility they thought they might have.

Was he flaming the poster, or leftists? It looks to me like it wasn't a personal attack toward the poster, but an observation regarding whether or not Reagan actually said that. Did REagan say it, or didn't he?

Before 2014: "Stop shoving race and gender down our throats!"

2014: "Meet the GOP's first black woman!"

    Moderator's Warning:
Meet Mia Love. You’ll be seeing a lot more of the Republicans’ first black [W:110]Oooook, folks. The topic is Mia Love, not Reagan or each other. Let's return to discussing her and leave the baiting out of it. And if anyone sees a violation, please report it, don't discuss it. Thanks!

This is the important stuff. We can’t get lost in discrimination. We can’t get lost in B.S. We can’t get lost tearing each other down. I want to make a point here that no matter what you look like, where you come from, how you worship, who you love, how you identify, and yeah, how you run, that if you have good public policy ideas, if you are well qualified for office, bring those ideas to the table, because this is your America, too. This is our commonwealth of Virginia, too.
