BREAKING: DENR Verifies Authenticity Of Hagan Stimulus Staff Review

Carolina Journal Online: Covering news, politics, and policy in North Carolina | BREAKING: DENR Verifies Authenticity Of Hagan Stimulus Staff Review

Sen. Hagan appears to be caught up in a self-dealing scandal in NC revolving around the awards of contracts from the Stimulus bill to Hagan's husband's company JDC Manufacturing. N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources has distributed the internal memo that documents their findings.

Also interesting is that the story appeared on the Charlotte Observer website for a brief time before it was pulled.

How convenient, too, that it is safely too late to really effect the election tomorrow....

Well, at this point the conventional wisdom is that the NC Senate race is one that is very likely to go to a run-off election either way. If so, this story would impact the run off, rather than tomorrow's vote. But then that is also probably not a big deal either way as it is pretty much a lock that Hagan loses a run off because she no longer has the Libertarian candidate siphoning votes off of Tillis.

That would be handy. I voted early, and admittedly stopped paying attention during the last 3 days or so.

In NC there will not be a runoff. The person with the most votes wins, even if it's less than 50% of the vote. The Libertarian is pulling votes from Thom Tillis and may give Hagan the election.

The media in Charlotte works as a wing of the state Democratic Party - always has, and probably always will.

This is sad, that this is coming out now, the day before the election, when many people, including me, have already voted early.

I see this as maybe (only maybe) coming out after the election is over. Too bad that we don't have an easy way to have a recall election in NC, if this comes out after the election and Hagan actually wins, which the polls say is possible at this time.
Everything in your life is a reflection of a choice you have made. If you want a different result, don't blame someone else, or expect others to make a change, you should stop complaining and make a different choice. Remember, the circumstances of your birth don't determine the outcome of your life.
