True. Conversely, they could see their guy is ahead and be motivated to go cast a vote for the guy who seems like he'll be the winner. On the flip side, if their person is behind they could just feel it's a lost cause and not bother to get up and go.

Either way...so what to any of those things? Why is that different than the plethora of other things that impact whether or not someone votes?

I'll be glad to talk about 8+ hour voting lines dating back to Ohio that cost Kerry the election on forward through the next five elections including tomorrow another time.

I'll be phone-banking again today but please leave a message since I need breaks--it's not as easy as it looks.

I'll be anxious to hear how that bad storm affects voter turnout in the East and Northeast.

I won't get home until about 11:00 PM my time. I'll send you my Senate picks by PM by midnight with other predictions and CC them to Captain Courtesy since I speak with him often.

I cherish my right to vote as a USA citizen for reasons you and I have discussed many times .

Granted, it'd be overwhelmingly the same thing, of course, but it comes off to me as irresponsible to imply it as actual election numbers.

I also question whether the Secretary of State should release any details at all, but that's another issue.
Nah, that's pretty accurate. You can do predictive modelling based on turnout to give you a fairly good idea how the election will turn out.

The GOP is slightly ahead in the polls. There's no question about that. The hope for the Democrats is that they'd have a better GotV effort as they did in 2012 where they outperformed the polls. This seems to imply that the GOP GotV effort has significantly improved. However, it's not definitive. There's still a question as to who's actually voting. Did the GOP target low probability voters? Or did the GOP target likely voters to improve their early voting numbers?

Personally, yes I agree. Longer than a week is a bit much. But why "early" voting instead of just saying "polls are open for a week?" Open polls the first Monday of November, and close them on Saturday. That would be great, IMO.

But, at the same time, it's not like it's a total outrage, either, and is waaaaay down on my list of things to worry about.
Exactly, same thing here. I think what actually brought early voting to my attention as it was a none issue before that. It was that Ohio began early voting back in 2012 a week before the first presidential debate. That was when I decided it was plain wrong. But like you say, there are tons of other issues way ahead of it.
This Reform Party member thinks it is high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first and their political party further down the line. But for way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.

That would start the campaigns in the winter. Yuk.

What is the republican platform in Colorado that is making the independents go from democrat to republican?

The dark money ads trashing Udall have been brutal--as I heard a month ago on my way to LV and back. Eastern CO is deep red and Western is getting redder each term. DEM hopes ride on the same poor polling as in 2012 with Obama, though in CO Dreamers will be sitting out to an extent .

Yeah, but think about it...An April election ensures that the check people have to write to the IRS is super fresh in their minds at that point....Then I am sure a lot of campaigns would change....
