FBI Most-Wanted Fugitive Eric Frein Captured Alive

FBI Most-Wanted Fugitive Eric Frein Captured Alive
    October 30, 2014

Accused cop killer Eric Frein, one of the FBI's 10 Most Wanted Fugitives, was captured after a 48-day manhunt, police said tonight. "Eric Frein was dedicated to killing law enforcement members," Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan said in a news conference with Gov. Tom Corbett. "I can't think of a more dangerous occupation than going out into those woods and looking for him." Noonan said several thousand members of various departments in at least five states spent countless hours looking for Frein.

Frein, 31, was captured by U.S. Marshals outside an abandoned airplane hanger at Birchwood-Pocono Airport near Tannersville about 6 p.m. Thursday, police said. Frein had a sniper rifle and knives but no shots were fired during his capture, said Noonan. He was taken to the State Police barracks in Blooming Grove, the same place where he allegedly ambushed two state troopers. Noonan said Frein was shackled with the handcuffs of Cpl. Bryon Dickson, who was killed in the shooting at the barracks, and driven there in the late officer's police vehicle.

The suspect was captured by a team of marshals who happened to spot him near the hanger. Frein gave up without a struggle and got down on his knees to be handcuffed when approached by the marshals, police said. The suspect was in good condition and required no medical attention.

No shootout but by the looks of it, a broken nose.

    48 days. That's crazy.

Hard to imagine he didn't have a lot of help. Clean shaven?

It is possible to shave without looking at oneself in the mirror in the bathroom, you know. It's not generally pleasant, but it gets the job done nonetheless.

Up to a 1000 cops after him and it took 48 days?

Does anyone believe there would be this much effort made if one of us was murdered? And does anyone believe that the general public was in danger?

Don't get me wrong; he's pyscho scumb and I'm glad they got him.

He is called a "survivor" perhaps because he got down on his knees and surrendered in order to "survive". The handcuffs used on him belonged to the officer he murdered. I guess this hero with plans to commit mass murders of police has shown his true name to be "coward". With all his survivor training he resorted to the first order of coward training: surrender.

No, but I'm very OK with that. There are some bad cops, but the vast majority do a dangerous job as best they can, and I support the signal that these kinds of efforts send to bad guys, which is don't kill cops - you WILL be caught, and punished severely.

This was a good "get" and the "no additional bloodshed" aspect is a definite plus.

I like the touch of using the original victim's cuffs. It's kind of like putting a bow on the present.
