I'm coming out of the closet, also,.......I'm hetero.
It wasn't easy, but I do feel better now that I did.

It also becomes a more important thing when that part of you tends to be looked down upon by society, causing you to somewhat hide it from others. Self-acceptance and pride in who you are extends to that.

    It's not inconsequential, really.

Either would be pretty silly. But if a man wants to help, why say something that puts a question mark behind your priorities and emotional functionality.? It seems funny

You're showing your bias. It's far from silly to say he's proud/not-ashamed of being gay, particularly when there is a shrinking but significant part of the country that views him in the same category as pedophiles, those who engage in bestiality, would fire/never hire him because he's gay, prohibit him from many professions, and favors him being subject to arrest as a result of his private sexual activities, legal if performed by heterosexuals. Majorities of several states took the extraordinary step of amending their Constitutions to make sure his and other gay relationships with those they love were NEVER given the legal rights and responsibilities of marriage.

And it's bizarre that you'd read his editorial, if you did, and think that would put a "question mark" behind his priorities or emotional functionality. What priorities do you question? What words indicates he's emotionally crippled somehow?

You have to be an awe inspiring bigot or have a really odd understanding of achievement to be proud of your everyday sexual habits. My God! Are you proud that you like chocolate? If you were proud that you had overcome your fear or shame I would grant you the satisfaction of being proud. But as he stated it, it should stand as a real embarrassment to the gays that have more brains than balls. But there seem to be a lot of the others.

Bigot? WTF did that come from?

    But for the record,

Proud: 1. feeling deep pleasure or satisfaction as a result of one's own achievements, qualities, or possessions or those of someone with whom one is closely associated.
Notice there is more than one use of the word proud. I'm proud of some of my ancestors, including my father who died a few years ago. Never met anyone who thinks that's odd. Lee Greenwood has a song, you might have heard of it, that expresses a very popular sentiment, "Proud to be an American." Most of us did exactly nothing to be an American, but it's sold millions, and is a staple at GOP gatherings. Are conservatives claiming credit for their mothers living in the U.S. when they came out of the womb? That would be odd..... There's an entire small industry catering to people proud to be from, or in, or associated with TEXAS??!! Doesn't make sense to me, but they're out there in big numbers. Etc.

Get over it. You're just looking for a reason to criticize Cook, and failing.

As I said. Being proud of being gay is like being proud of liking chocolate and the fact that you can eat it. Wow! Quite an achievement!

How many calories did you burn so that you could come up with an analogy that so fantastically misunderstands the circumstances under which he made his statement?

'Just mentioning the quality of the statement. Not what he meant. Not he was trying to say. Only what he said.

If the point you're trying to make requires the removal of the context and intent of someone's quote, then your point probably isn't very good.
