Jim Crow returns Millions of minority voters threatened by electoral purge

Just to be clear, efforts to clean up registrations and the rest are fantastic. If the states used this outfit, I'd support them 100%. According to AJ, in Washington ERIC got a list of suspected problem registrations of 37,000 compared to more than 370,000 for the Cross Check. It's probably because ERIC requires hits on things other than first and last name and therefore generates likely GOOD names and not garbage.

It's also notable that participants in ERIC have to pledge to use the list to ADD people to the registration rolls, after notifying them, etc. So the process isn't a one way - kick as many off as possible - exercise. It includes INCREASING the number of registered voters.

Who We Are

And states can't use both because.....

Why do you have your panties in a wad because there exists a more encompassing first pass filter of data for states to use?

This measure seems to be highly discriminatory against double voters.
Since a "John Smith existing in Virginia can exclude a John Doublebubble Flying Spaghetti Monster Smith VII with mismatched S.S. numbers I would say no, this does not discriminate against double voters. It discriminates against people with common names.

If they have a photo ID or a voter registration card, they'll be fine.

I realize that's like asking for a bone marrow sample, but this is important.
Some people may potentially be removed from voting rolls with no further research other than first name/last name matches.

Why should a state use an organization that is flagging perfectly valid registrations at such an alarming rate? If John Smith voting can flag every single John Smith in the country, what ****ing use is the system?

Great article but this is the biggest thing that stuck out to me:

This is a great article. Too bad none of this is actually a criminal offense. The GOP loves these actions, because its simple, they are taking away people who will not vote for them. The GOP is no friend of democracy.

The GOP is smart. They know they can't win on the merits of their platform..... BTW, what is their platform?

Given that there is no such thing.... people are advocating legislation for which there is no known problem. Seems like the GOP is advocating FOR unnecessary regulation when it suits them.

The people that tell you that voter fraud is a problem are either disingenuous (they know its about suppression.. which I believe are most of this group) or ignorant (lack critical thinking skills and an appetite for the truth and thus are pawns of the first group).

are you saying there are more losers than winners because the GOP appeals to winners and the Dems appeal to losers-and those who want to control them?

Because it allows the user to then do the middle name filter themselves for possible data entry errors whereas a three-criteria pass would miss them.

If anything, the Al Jeez self search tool only demonstrates how easily you can narrow down a search from the database. I found two John Smiths with unique middle names registered to vote in two states in under 30 seconds.
