Breaking: Investigators are responding to reported school shooting in Marysvi[W:480]

Re: Breaking: Investigators are responding to reported school shooting in Marysville,

I disagree. I agree with Stonewall in his post 7 that we need to look at those factors. I just add the other obvious one.

And I never said a word about gun control or made any suggestions about it here.

And right wing version of their own form of political correctness will not prevent that and should not prevent that.

Kid got in a fight the other day. Pretty clear cut.

Kids get into fights across the land all the time Crue. They normally DO NOT end up like this.

Re: Breaking: Investigators are responding to reported school shooting in Marysville,

I haven't gotten new reports. I wonder what caused this kid to lose it?

Initial reports seem to indicate that it involved a dispute over a girl. Some of the witness interviews indicate that the shooter was reasonably popular and the incident was unexpected.

Clearly some do.

Yeah, except sometimes when a kid loses a fight and his pride is damaged even more he will take things to the next level.

Listen haymarket. You don't get it. This isn't a gun issue. Do you know why I want to avoid the topic? Because it is the STUPIDEST AND LEAST PRODUCTIVE area of discussion we can get into.

Unless you are so moronic that you actually believe a gun caused this tragedy, then try talking about the real issues. We never talk about the real issues, the causes, and the gun topic is always slung around by a bunch of poo flinging monkey politicians because they are all a bunch of sociopaths who don't give a damn about "We the people." They just want to score points against the NRA because they vote republican.

The real issues have been shoved to the side because they aren't easy, we don't have the answers, and it isn't popular. Those aren't good things for politicians to talk about. They don't make good soundbites. So instead letting yourself be baited by them, maybe you could join the rest of us in asking questions about the CAUSES.

Facebook? Bullying? Drugs? Legal drugs? Mental illness? We don't know squat right now, but maybe we should start asking? God almighty...

It is always "unexpected." The reality is that no sane person does this. I just wonder why kids are resorting to these extreme actions over petty BS? I noticed some kids are reacting more and more unreasonably to breakups. I wonder if it is an entitled attitude to some degree?

I mean kids think they deserve a relationship. There is the "friend zone" mentality too. It seems kids today aren't learning coping mechanisms like they used too.

Re: Breaking: Investigators are responding to reported school shooting in Marysville,

Listening to the interviews on local news with student witnesses, it's pretty clear he targeted that particular table. According to one kid who claims to have cut school with him yesterday, the shooter knew all those kids at the table. According to one report he came up and started shooting from behind. One witness suggests that he shot a girl who refused to go out with him and two other reports suggest there was some sort of racial incident a few days earlier. And bullying has been mentioned too.

What I think is happening is that, due to the ability to tailor ones sense of reality through social media, people are becoming less and less tolerant of the real world.

No doubt about it. A very tiny small number do. So what is different about this one?

This will probably be the most intelligent statement in the thread. I agree 100%

Re: Breaking: Investigators are responding to reported school shooting in Marysville,

I checked out his FB and Twitter accounts. If I had to guess he's a native American member of the Tulalip tribe. His last tweets were troubling.

What did they say?

Re: School shooting in Maryville, Washington

Why the **** is this happening? Why the **** is this happening? Why the **** is the happening? Instead of partisan bull****, why aren't we collectively asking, why the **** is this happening, and then honestly and openly seeking an answer, no matter where it leads us?

Is it a prevalence of guns? Nonsense. Guns were more prevalent per capita in past eras, and this **** was not common.

Is it video games? I think no, but I don't really know? I mean, I play video games. And I've never shot up a school.

Is it bullying? Is bullying something new? Has bullying gotten worse? Is it because it's all online now?

Is it copy catting? Like, gee wiz, my life sucks, I'm gonna go all columbine on someone? Had this latest shooter even heard of columbine?

What are we doing wrong as parents? How are we erring so badly that are kids are homicidal maniacs?

Re: Breaking: Investigators are responding to reported school shooting in Marysville,

It won't last.... It'll never last....

There were several other dark tweets as well.

He was named the Freshman Homecoming King.

Alright. I'm taking bets now as to how long it is before this thread degrades into yet another gun control debate.

Damn, not even one minute before haymarket proves you right... gotta love the gun grabbers...

And I never said a word about gun control or made any suggestions about it here.

Bull**** Mr. "if everyone carried an uzi then this would not have happened."

To what could you have been referring to? I thought so.

Honest answer? Most people won't like it.

We've spent close to 40 years teaching children....

... that they're super-special snowflakes who are entitled to everything good...

... that they're just highly evolved animals, not immortal souls...

... that there is no God, or if there is there is no judgment by him...

... that it is okay to kill innocent babies in the womb if they are inconvenient...

.... that things like the 10 Commandments are outdated and all morality is relative....

... and then we wonder why stuff like this happens?

Half of the things on this list, I believe in, like abortion. I'm also not what you'd call a God fearing man. But I'm inclined to believe you're correct.

A combination of these things seems to be doing something averse to our kids. BUT. Are we the ONLY nation that has these combination of things? Are we the only nation that tells our kids they're the next president, while allowing abortion, because we're just highly evolved animals with no god? Somehow, I don't think so.

Is that it, though? Fear? Fear for our immortal souls that kept us in line as children, in past generations? Or a belief that, of all the critters out there, we are super special snowflakes?

I don't know. Logically, your case has merit, it really does. But I just don't want to think of us as beings who are only kept in line by fear, by the ever present threat of an eternity in hell, imposed by a god that loves us above all others.

Yep

The disconnect from God is something thats relatively new.

Many kids these days have received no discipline or morals from their parents.

They lack respect for others, and respect of others.

Being Christians, my children understand the value of life.

The kids also understand the taking of a life for self-defense can be a requirement of survival of self and family.

it seems other people these days do not share the same values and beliefs, which is part of the problem.

Very simply, many people today do not care nor recognize the difference between right and wrong - Therein lies the problem.

The disconnect from God is something thats relatively new.

Not really - it has been a constant decline for some years now.

We might as well remove 'One nation under God' from the pledge of Allegiance, as we surely don't act like it these days.
