You've been in full-on Ebola freakout mode from day one. Do I need to remind you about your ludicrous "calm before the storm" thread?

Ebola is essentially contained, and our medical infrastructure is sound. Your chicken little antics are merely tiresome.

That a doctor did not self-quarantine after returning from West Africa's Guinea (Ebola infectious zone) is... highly disturbing.

How could he be a terrorist when he did not bring down One World Trade Centre.

Kobie, you know nothing about medicine, and pay no price for being wrong.

Now, why do you think that dems are now saying they want to close entry from outbreak nations?

Even more so is the failure of our "system" to contain it. Its demonstrably failed.

Go through the various threads on Ebola, and look at WHO is consistently snide, condescending, dismissive, and supremely confident that they are immune.

Look at the common element of their political lean.

Don't take my word for it, I'm just a wacko CT loon. Go look for yourself at the group of people who consistently dismiss and attack those who see Ebola as a threat.

Yes, and winning is the ONLY thing that counts for them. Killing a few people, or even allot of people, who are in their way, would not matter.

A vaccine for Ebola exists, and has existed from the better part of the Obama Administration. For some odd reason, it was never complete ( we are told ) and deployed, even to Africa.

It could be that they view Ebola only though a Political lens....

Or, they might actually all be truly immune to the disease...

Where their political opponents are NOT!

Look again, Carefully, at WHO is supremely confident that Ebola is not a threat, and scoffs at, ridicules, and belittles anyone who takes it as a serious threat.

What is the Lean of those who dismiss Ebola as a threat?

Who is NOT casually dismissing Ebola?

Why is it, only people of a Far Left Political Lean are so confident?

But the previous link in this thread said he was "out bowling"!

So what media choice do I believe?!

Regardless, the man still flew here on a commercial flight with other passengers.

Even if it turns out the chances of him contaminating anyone when he's yet symptomatic are very rare, shouldn't those people whom he might contaminate on "very rare" occasion have a right to know such a risk was aboard the plane?

    Maybe not.

    But .. maybe.

Regardless, it does look like Ebola.

We can hope it isn't, though.

But if it is Ebola, at least it's not a "walk-in" case at the hospital. He was taken there in quarantine and protection, thus the chances of healthcare workers contracting it from him here in the U.S., under non-walk-in conditions, is historically zero.

This guy is a Doctor.....an yet as a Doctor he shows us how even Doctors can be fools. This mope knew he was working with Ebola Patients. For 8 months he was in Guinea. He should have isolated himself Right off the top coming from the Infected Country.

Not only was he out bowling.....but he took the subway, then went out to the park.

Was also out jogging.....which he said he was feeling down then.

    From The New York Times:

Its development stalled in part because Ebola is rare, and until now, outbreaks had infected only a few hundred people at a time. But experts also acknowledge that the absence of follow-up on such a promising candidate reflects a broader failure to produce medicines and vaccines for diseases that afflict poor countries. Most drug companies have resisted spending the enormous sums needed to develop products useful mostly to countries with little ability to pay...

To that point, the research may have cost a few million dollars, but tests in humans and scaling up production can cost hundreds of millions, and bringing a new vaccine all the way to market typically costs $1 billion to $1.5 billion, Dr. Crowe said. “Who’s going to pay for that?” he asked. “People invest in order to get money back.”

    http://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/24/he...for-years.html

The choice made by the companies is an entirely rational one based on market considerations. Sometimes market considerations and health needs can conflict. Currently, there's no real mechanism to deal with situations similar to what happened with the potentially promising ebola vaccine. Perhaps following the Ebola outbreak, there may be a federal or international funding mechanism devised to finance the testing and development of vaccines intended to prevent severe viruses even as the incidence of such viruses is limited (sort of like preparing for a low probability/high impact event).
