Sen. Elizabeth Warren says she has been treated differently as a woman in Congress.

But unlike Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, who opened up about her experience with sexism on Capitol Hill in a recent book, Warren the first woman ever elected to the U.S. Senate from Massachusetts won't elaborate.

In an interview with CNN scheduled to air Wednesday, Warren was asked whether she had experienced treatment similar to what Gillibrand described.

    "Yes," Warren said.

    Would she care to elaborate?

"Nope," she said. "I've said all I'm going to say."

    <snip>

First off, she looks nuts in that picture.

Second, she (and her Democratic counterparts in DC) push female citizens to fight against treatment like this, at the risk of alienating their bosses and co-workers, etc. But Senator Warren doesn't want to name names? Doesn't want to provide specifics? Doesn't want to fight it?

    What am I missing here?
    Maybe it's because she's a blond native-american...

And so since you quoted her making no claims, and this was a thread about her interview on CNN, I typed out a rough transcript. Republicans not mentioned. Perhaps you meant in some other interview or speech that you haven't quoted?

And on the post I quoted from, it might have avoided some confusion if, when you mentioned those claims in a thread about Sen. Warren, you said that you weren't referring to Warren, but to your unique summary of claims made by Gillibrand. I don't recall reading or hearing either woman say there was a "war on women...even in the hallowed halls of Congress" but maybe she wrote that or said it in an interview. Maybe Gillibrand also said the Senators "mistreat" her and "shut [her] out" but I don't recall that either. If you'd summarized claims actually made by Gillibrand, that would have helped as well. In fact, she said about most of the comments about her being fat, and getting told "I like my girls chubby" that they were by old men, relics from the stone age (my own summary) who didn't know better, which is different altogether than claiming a 'war on women' by Senators who "mistreat' me and 'shut me out.'

But, OK, I was confused. You weren't referring in any way to or about Warren!

Now what part of what Warren actually said - the point of this thread - is troubling, etc.?
    1. Elizabeth Warren has claimed that Republicans are "on the attack" against women. That has nothing - zero - to do with this thread or the interview with CNN.

    2. You may want to read up on what Senator Gilibrand has claimed - and what was referenced in the interview with Senator Warren - if you want your posts in this thread to make any sense at all. It appears you don't know anything about the subject you're posting on.

    3. Warren says she experienced the same things as Senator Gilibrand. When asked to provide names or more details, she declined to do so. I'm not the only person in the world who finds that troubling. Even the conservative media powerhouse known as MSNBC was discussing it at 6:30 am ET.

So why did you make this statement: "Ah, so, Elizabeth Warren never made any claims about the Republicans and how they treat women. That's your contention?" Made no sense to me either...

I provided a transcript of the interview. Just point out what Warren actually said that you have a problem with. As far as I can tell, the inflammatory claim was she was treated differently by her Senator colleagues because she was a woman!!!

BTW I also pointed out that your summary of Gillibrand's charges were pretty..uhh... inventive.

She didn't say that, actually. She answered "Yes" to a statement (paraphrased, your colleague wrote a book, told some stories about they guys in the Senate) followed by this:

Question: "Have you had any similar experiences, of being treated differently because you're a woman by your colleagues in the Senate?"
    Warren: Yes.
    Troubling!!!

    1. So you admit Warren has claimed there is a Republican war on women? Good.

    2. It's what Warren didn't say that was troubling.

    3. Yes, I know...you like Warren. I get that. You have no issue here. So we don't agree. Then you don't need to worry about any of this. Right?

    Excuse me?

I made this thread. I copied the headline & story from Yahoo after seeing this very issue discussed on MSNBC this morning. My thread had nothing to do with teepees and Indians. Was your post necessary?

I haven't made a claim one way or the other on that statement, "That has nothing - zero - to do with this thread or the interview with CNN."

    2. It's what Warren didn't say that was troubling.
Well, sure, because as I said you think the only two appropriate responses to that question, to which she answered "Yes" were to 1) Lie, and say, "No" or 2) scorched earth on her Senate colleagues, naming names, dates, times, and particulars!! And I presume it's because she made the scandalous claim that her Senate colleagues treated her DIFFERENTLY because she was a woman. I mean, anyone who makes those bold claims MUST as a matter of common decency back that up with specifics!!!

I do, she's far better than most in D.C. in my view because at least occasionally she is at least pointing to some real problems, among them the corrupt financial system in this country. Right wingers don't like her, which is fine because I can't stand Ted Cruz, among others in the GOP. But that's not really the point here - I'm just having a good time with the right wingers making a big deal out of nothing.

I'll say it one more time. I'll even give the group on MSNBC credit for saying it first today - if she and Gillibrand are going to make the claim, then they either need to name names, or be prepared to 1) be called liars, 2) have people make the assumption that the men in question are of their own party which is why they are not naming names, or 2) assume this is a political ploy.
