Apparently there was enough information to remove his passport. There might be new laws in place that could lead to greater protective custody, bth foor the intended terrorist and the possible victims.Bolded is the problem.
That was just wishful thinking. As to shooting them a day sooner, yeah that would be nice and soem good people would be alive today but how do you know when to shoot someone 1 day before they commit an act of terrorism?
CJ
Why are you taking a tragedy like this to attack Obama on a race related issue.
This is so beneath you my man.

The only thing I hear about is the US. Why don't we hear anything about what Canada is doing, and yes it was a serious question.

You need to read up on your own history apdst. Mexico did indeed exist in 1846, when the US invaded the fledgling nation in order to achieve the goal of more valuable land, and an expansion of the nation at the expensive of a lessor regarded neighbor. They were successful and took what was then about half the nation of Mexico. That's one of the reasons those south of the border don't seem as friendly as you might imagine when you visit.
It is quite an irony today that the issue of Mexican migrants has been such in the news, when in fact, they are infiltrating what was once their own country.
It was in response to a partisan attack on Canada and its handling of the situation. It was designed to shut down the politics in a thread where none should be.
Okay fair enough. My fault
There are many people in this world, sadly, who are susceptible to this type of propaganda because of problems in their own lives where they lack the control they want and they seek out opportunities like this. The young man in Quebec who ran down the soldiers was having difficulty with custody/visitation with his child and I'm sure that was a contributing factor in his radicalization. In Islam, the woman having such control over a man and his child is unheard of and may be part of what was attractive to him. We'll never know for sure, but with the level of mental illness in the world there will always be ready recruits to such dangers.
He is Canada's "Sergeant at Arms", the man who controls the comings and goings into and out of the House of Commons. It's an old British Parliamentary tradition and part of the "pageantry" of Parliament. I, for one, didn't realize the Sergeant at Arms was indeed armed and able to protect Parliament in such a way. As Canadians, we basically pride ourselves in our places of government being very open and accessible by the general public and this may make that less so but I'm certainly glad this man was able to take down the terrorist before he got any further. I also didn't realize that security that protects entry into the Parliamentary buildings in Ottawa are unarmed, even though they are there to ensure that no one enters the buildings armed. I'm pretty sure that won't continue into the future.
apst was correct, Mexico was Spanish territory in 1810, perhaps you should take your own advice.
FOX is giving excellent coverage over what happened in Canada, with live feed from Canadian contributors and politicians. I've watched the major US Networks out of curiosity and FOX appears to be the best.Maybe you need to stop watching FOX. LOL
Canada needs more gun control. Canada has a gun culture.
It's odd, despite the differing gun laws, that the Canadian terrorists have been shot dead while US terrorists in similar cases are still alive. I prefer the Canadian response. If we had US laws, he probably would have had an M-14 and a 1000 rounds of ammo. He apparently had a single shot rifle.
Very much agree. Most of these 'active shooters' are losers in their own lives and looking for others to blame. High school shooters too.
Blaming women, former employers, the govt, etc. And then a cult or other group comes along and promises them a way to 'get back' at them or take control over their lives back.
They are just weak losers that act out in a very dangerous way.
Members of ISIS who have spoken out, and they have their Clerics, seem to know their religion quite well.I tend to agree with you both. Religion is just a handy tool here for those with deep psychological issues. I'd bet also that ISIS is little more than a grab bag of dysfunction, with few there even having much of a grasp of the actual religion of Islam.
You simply cannot fight an ideology. You're guaranteed to lose everytime.
I bet Canada will rethink their liberal immigration policies before America does. It might already be to late for America.
Let's not forget that they are murdering other Muslims as well and when they go out to fight it is not necessarily against 'the West'. Canada also does not have any Ward Churchills in its schools or preachers preaching "God Damn Canada!"
The shooter was born in Canada. Care to insert the other foot?
Is your bung hole that big ?
No Muslims, no mosque, very likely no conversion to Islam. No conversion to Islam equates to that there would be two more soldiers today standing post in Canada.

The accounts i've seen state that the nutjob in St-Jean was converted and radicalized by visiting internet sites. We live in a global world and evil people will use ALL means of communication to spread their hate. Unfortunately they are able to find fertile ground with some people.
