Obama will name Ron Klain as Ebola Czar [W:234, 285]

Re: Obama will name Ron Klain as Ebola Czar [W:234]

huh?

As long as gun owners are portrayed in such a manner, don't expect us to care what Obama wants. As long as you are willing to continue to have his administration fought at every step, we will continue to fight.

Re: Obama will name Ron Klain as Ebola Czar

The GOP cuts of a billion to the CDC are to blame.
This argument was weak weeks ago.

The Texas hospital that blatantly and incompetently dropped the ball are to blame.
Due to lack of training and lack of assistance from the CDC.

Shame on the GOP for worsening the ebola problem and then blaming the President.
So now the GOP caused Ebola and brought it into the United States?

Re: Obama will name Ron Klain as Ebola Czar

I don't care, since gun policy does not fall under the purview of the Surgeon General.

So why then did the nominee even talk about guns?

Re: Obama will name Ron Klain as Ebola Czar

Arguments aren't weak because they are true.
Why has Congress only worked seven days since July 31st?
Why won't Sen. McConnell allow a Surgeon General?
A vote for GOPs is a vote for McConnell/Boehner, a recipe for last decade .

Moderator's Warning:
I've already thread banned a few people for clearly attempting to derail threads and this point forward I'm going to not be dropping any more warnings.

The thread isn't about the upcoming election, it's not about firearms, it's about the Ron Klain or...at least...is about the Governments response to the Ebola crisis as it relates to government officials. If your post isn't DIRECTLY and PRIMARILY focusing on that then you're going to get booted

Re: Obama will name Ron Klain as Ebola Czar [W:234]

Elections have consequences and what you consider qualified is hereby dismissed.

If the czar was a Doctor, you'd complain he didn't have the administrative experience to bring five agencies together.

Besides, the GOP was always against czars before they were for them .

They demanded a QUALIFIED Czar. Not a political ass-kisser who has ZERO medical qualifications.

Why don't we have a surgeon general--a nation's doctor--?
Sure helped with another African disease last decade which was eradicated by great work by Bush-43 and his SURGEON GENERAL !

Re: Obama will name Ron Klain as Ebola Czar

The administrator of the Texas hospital admitted to the Congressional ebola hearing, held six weeks after DEMs called for one,
to have dropped the ball in every conceivable way based on everything the CDC told them to do going back to June and July.

You may want to get a transcript of this hearing to find out just how incompetent this hospital was--
something the GOP would accuse Dems of it happened on their turf .

We have a Surgeon General. The position is not vacant, there is someone, appointed by this Administration, serving in the capacity of the Surgeon General this very day.

Re: Obama will name Ron Klain as Ebola Czar

Who would that be ?

Re: Obama will name Ron Klain as Ebola Czar [W:234]

Then why does the GOP in the Senate continue to filibuster the President5's pick for Surgeon General?

Can you remember the last time this filibustering of a Surgeon General happened,
especially with such a dangerous disease like ebola, or let's say AIDs last decade ?

Which is the Surgeon General of the United States at the moment. The position is not simply vacant with no one performing the duties. This is one of the primary reasons the federal government has deputy positions for these types of leadership positions within the bueracracy...so that there isn't lapses in the position being filled.

The United States has a Surgeon General. He's there in an acting capacity as opposed to a permanent capacity, but he's there none hte less. It's simply inaccurate to suggest or act like we don't have a Surgeon General...we do.

That question has nothing to do with whether or not there is a Surgeon General, which is what my response was addressing.

There is currently a Surgeon General, specifically in the acting capacity.

Sorry if I'm not going to indulge in your strawman.

Re: Obama will name Ron Klain as Ebola Czar

So then we don't have a Senate approved Surgeon General due to the filibustering of
Minority Leader Sen. McConnell .
Rear Admiral Boris D. Lushniak, as has been pointed out three other times in this thread

Was it a strawman last decade when Sen. McConnell continued to whine for straight-up-and-down votes on Bush appointments then?

Or threatened to go nuclear last decade, forcing Dems to give what McConnell won't give now?

I know you are aware that the NRA is preventing a vote on the Surgeon General--not a strawman .

Could be that with Obama every thing is political and his nomination for Surgeon General was a little to much political.
Vivek Murthy, President Obama's nominee to be U.S. Surgeon General was an anti gun nut who doesn't support the Second Amendment and even some Democrats in the Senate had a problem with that. It just wasn't Republicans but even rule of law Democrats joined the Republicans.

Look at Obama's pick for the Ebola Czar, completely political. Obama appointed a long time Democrat political hack who has no experience in the medical field, none at all. Typical Obama type appointee or nomination. May explain why the federal government is dysfunctional today.

Re: Obama will name Ron Klain as Ebola Czar

How about just naming a surgeon general?

Remember Obama last Surgeon General ? Just like all of Obama's appointments.

The Ineffective, Invisible U.S. Surgeon General Departs. Good Riddance.

>" Although some of the nation’s healthcare issues are complex and seem insoluble, others are relatively approachable. Many in this latter category fall within the province of the U.S. Surgeon General. But the incumbent, Dr. Regina M. Benjamin, has been nowhere to be found since the beginning of President Obama’s first term.

She has just announced that she is stepping down, and good riddance.

The position of Surgeon General is unusual in that it is considered prestigious — conferring rank equivalent to a three-star general or admiral — but lacks much in the way of budget, staff or programs of its own. The incumbent’s achievements are the result of moral suasion and the careful selection of issues — and sometimes a willingness to butt heads with the pols. Former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop, who served in the Reagan administration, was unquestionably the best-known incumbent in modern times. He was strongly discouraged by senior officials in the administration from publicly discussing the accelerating AIDS crisis but he ignored the pressure and become a champion of AIDS funding and research, saving countless lives.

The current Surgeon General, Regina M. Benjamin, has provided a stunning record of non-achievement during four years in her position. Most of her attention was focused on a single issue – obesity – but without anything new or specific to suggest: She promised to “[h]elp Americans lead healthier lives through better nutrition, regular physical activity and encouraging communities to support healthy choices.” (Ironically, Dr. Benjamin herself is obese.)

Those grandiose but vague goals remind me of a skit on Monty Python’s Flying Circus TV show in which one character says to viewers: “Well, last week we showed you how to become a gynecologist. And this week on ‘How to do it’ we’re going to show you how to play the flute, how to split an atom, how to construct a box girder bridge, how to irrigate the Sahara Desert and make vast new areas of land cultivatable, but first, here’s Jackie to tell you all how to rid the world of all known diseases.”..."<

Re: Obama will name Ron Klain as Ebola Czar

The only Surgeon General I remember was C. Everett Coop. The guy looked like an old sailor with his white beard and hair - his grandfatherly face and his plain speaking.

Omg, don't tell me you don't remember Joycelyn Elders!
She was great for years of entertainment!

Re: Obama will name Ron Klain as Ebola Czar

Wasn't she the one that was into masturbation?

And if I remember correctly, she's the one who made a reference to the "chief joints of staff", rather than the Joint chiefs of staff. I think she may have had a little recreational smoking on her mind.
She was a hoot!

Koop would have to be the most recognizable Surgeon General in the past fifty years.

Re: Obama will name Ron Klain as Ebola Czar

We can do lots of things. The question is whether it's a good idea. Canceling visas from nations where Ebola has spread would be a good idea. Canceling flights wouldn't necessarily keep at risk people out.
Man on the street interviews often show the glaring intelligence of the average person out there, so even if you think it would do No Good, whats the harm?

Oh, and btw, Nigeria credits their ability to defeat their own outbreak to closing their borders to any entries from stricken areas. So what gives here?

Check the map already posted and see how many countries are one flight transfer away from the US, then think about how many nations would have to have flights cancelled.
