Obama Administration Found Nearly 25 Percent Chance of Ebola Spread to USA

President Obama assured the American public that our country’s Ebola risk was extremely low, even after a federal government-funded study quietly found a nearly 25 percent chance of Ebola reaching the United States in September 2014.

The Defense Threat Reduction Agency and the federal government’s Models of Infectious Disease Agency co-funded a September 2 analysis on the threat of Ebola’s spread to countries including the United States, Israel’s Arutz Sheva reported. The analysis was circulated among federal government officials prior to its September 2 publication date.

The analysis found a nearly 25 percent “probability of Ebola virus disease case importation” to the United States within 3 to 6 weeks.

Nevertheless, President Obama falsely said on September 16 that experts “across our government” agree that America”s Ebola vulnerability was extremely low. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also repeatedly assured the American people that the Ebola risk was low, even after the alarming government study was completed.

“First and foremost, I want the American people to know that our experts, here at the CDC and across our government, agree that the chances of an Ebola outbreak here in the United States are extremely low,” Obama said.

If our gov't lied about the percentages of the US getting it, what else are they lying about?

First you're going to hear about cases popping up in France, Spain and other areas of Europe, South America and Asia but they'll lie about it like our gov't did, only fueling more fear.

Just remember "NOT TO PANICK", because they're going to be honest about the situation.

It's now just so common (the lies) that I can't listen to anyone from this administration and believe what they say is the truth on ANY matter small or large. Not surprised at all.

Unfortunate that it happened, but I'd stop short of saying it's an outright lie. Much like I had issue with the claims of the Bush administration "lying", there's an issue saying it here. At best you could say mislead. I'm not seeing anywhere that the Obama Administration quantified what "extremely low" was. Maybe a 1/4 chance was deemed "extermely low". Perhaps they weren't talking about singular infection here but Americas vulnerability of it becoming wide spread. Hard to say because it's vauge, and it was intentionally vague. It's reasonable to attack them for the vagueness and complain about it, but I think I'd be hard pressed to say flat out it was a "lie".

And if you took into account the last 7 years and all the other times this administration has outright lied or misled... would that sway you at all?

I also don't believe they intentionally said in their minds, "let's out and out tell a total lie". But the guise to misinform for public safety (doubtful) or financial reasons (likely) are still deceptions that don't serve this kind of situation. If there's a comet coming that's going to destroy us, I don't want to know about it.

But the worst thing to do with an outbreak that you know is going to likely happen is to over downplay and let imaginations run wild. I'd rather scream from the rafters and desensitize the public, so when people start dying they can say "oh, we expected this because that crazy grip was screaming end of the world."

The Chinese are already sending an experimental drug to the hotzone, now that's how a gov't should act.

China sends Ebola drug to Africa, eyes clinical trials

SHANGHAI (Reuters) - A Chinese drugmaker with military ties has sent an experimental Ebola drug to Africa for use by Chinese aid workers and is planning clinical trials there to combat the disease, executives at the firm told Reuters on Thursday.

Sihuan Pharmaceutical Holdings Group Ltd has supplied several thousand doses of its drug JK-05 to the region, Chief Operating Officer Jia Zhongxin said. More doses could be sent if needed, Jia said.
