Biden’s Son Hunter Discharged From Navy Reserve After Failing Cocaine Test

Biden’s Son Hunter Discharged From Navy Reserve After Failing Cocaine Test

:lamo

WASHINGTON— >" Vice President Joe Biden ’s son Hunter was discharged from the Navy Reserve this year after testing positive for cocaine, according to people familiar with the matter.

Hunter Biden, a lawyer by training who is now a managing partner at an investment company, had been commissioned as an ensign in the Navy Reserve, a part-time position. But after failing a drug test last year, his brief military career ended.

Mr. Biden, 44 years old, decided to pursue military service relatively late, beginning the direct-commission process to become a public-affairs officer in the Navy Reserve in 2012. Because of his age—43 when he was to be commissioned—he needed a waiver to join the Navy. He received a second Navy waiver because of a drug-related incident when he was a young man, according to people familiar with the matter. Military officials say such drug waivers aren’t uncommon.

Mr. Biden was commissioned as an ensign on May 7, 2013, and assigned to Navy Public Affairs Support Element East in Norfolk, Va., a reserve unit, according to the Navy. In June 2013, after reporting to his unit in Norfolk, he was given a drug test, which turned up positive for cocaine, according to people familiar with the situation. Mr. Biden was discharged in February, the Navy said..."<

A coked out 44 year old liberal has no place in our military.

I'm not exactly on Team Obama/Biden...but when did we decide politicians kids (regardless of their age) were fodder? Thats kinda bull****.

No, it's not "kinda bull****"; it's total bull. And repulsive. What is the character assassination point of this stupid thread?

We have a commissioned officer in Obama's PC Navy using cocaine.
Cmon, man...thats bull**** and you know it. Theres a lot of military folks getting kicked out of the military for drug use. There have been military people kicked out for drug use in every administrations 'Navy'. You are making an issue of this because he is Biden's kid. Thats classless.

And GWB was AWOL during your Vietnam war due to his drug use .

It's nonsense to fire someone for doing drugs in their off time. Military or civilian. You know how many lushes, drunks, and full blown alcoholics were in the Navy when I served? The E-Club was packed every single night. Yet nobody really cared as long as you didn't get in trouble, get hurt, or show up for duty drunk or unable to work (or of course if you were on 24 hr call). But if someone prefers weed or coke instead of booze? OMG kick 'em out now, we can't have any of that riffraff in our fine establishment!! SMH

Almost our entire drug policy is bass-ackwards and hypocritical. Responsible use is nobody else's business but the user, and addiction to drugs is inherently a medical problem, not a criminal problem. Minimize drug abuse through education and deglamorization, not through criminalization and incarceration. What we're doing today doesn't solve any problems, it just creates more.

Anyway, too bad for Ensign Biden. He might have turned out to be a decent officer if only he had celebrated his direct commission with everyone's drug of choice instead of his own.

Not one officer in the Navy ever did anything bad before Obama became President. There were also no natural disasters and nobody was gay.

Hunter Biden was given two waivers, one for prior drug use so he could be commissioned an officer in the Navy.

Who do you think was behind those two waivers ?

Lets face it, Ensign Biden ****ed up big time. He was probably going to be fast tracked up the chain of command and would have been a Vice-Admiral by the time Obama ended his term.

Thank you nota bene and VanceMack.
I respect the heck out of both of you for calling bull**** on this thread.
My post to APACHERAT about GWB's drug use during the Vietnam war stands however.

Please forgive me for being cynical and wondering whether your post is reverse psychology to soften the image of GOPs.

I know you're far better than that but today's politics has sickened me more than Ebola ever could--
along with the GOP playing politics with Ebola and ISIL.

Once again, my apologies ahead of time for going there .

yeah GWB rode the white horse and even though I point it out for the hypocrisy of the OP tbh... I don't really care. Bush was right when he said...

"when I was young and irresponsible, I was young and irresponsible."

People grow up. And even though GWB wasn't in Vietnam I'll say that I don't know many Vietnam vets that weren't engorged on some drug of some kind back then. Drug use was pretty pervasive there and then. I don't hold that against them.

Isn't this pretty much old news? I mean, shame on old Hunter, he should have known better but... The failed drug test was 16 months ago and the administrative discharge was finalized in last February.

Must be a slow news day, when folks are picking up sun-dried bones to rattle.

.

I believe G.W. Bush admitted he did a little blow when he was in college before he became a F-102 fighter jock in the ANG.

No it did not, but I have wondered many times if Hillary Clinton was a lesbian.

I heard from people who worked in the White house that Hillary had more ***** than Bill ever did

This is breaking news. I had to wait almost twenty hours before I could find a source on the internet where the usual trolls wouldn't be attacking the source instead of the context.

It's less than three weeks before the mid-term elections and it's just more bad news for Obama and the Democrats.

Thank you for your words--you can't imagine what they mean to me since you don't know me.
I'm the son of a 22-year Air Force NCO--the base commander's favorite bartender at Travis--and 8 more years at Joliet APSA during Vietnam.

I was only a baby in 1955 when Dad was set to get his 2nd lieutenant after rising from entry level Navy in WW2.
He and the boys went out drinking that weekend and he lost every stripe--busted down to buck private.
Put on antabuse and lithium--completely ****ed up his whole life and my Mother's.

This Nation will never deal with it's legal drug problems--cigarettes, alcohol,
pharmaceuticals (especially Oxy which leads our kids to Heroin)

I'm a retired chem/physics teacher who has lost three former students to heroin overdose in the last five years.
I'm in a HERO program here in Illinois and carry Narcon and a needle in case I come across an overdose.
I'm still tutoring and totally involved with our high school wrestling prograqm.
Thanks again for listening and what you said about alcohol .

Wow, I guess they should have blamed a YouTube video....at least for a few weeks. They are outta control these days!

I was unaware that liberal elitist were still powdering their noses.

I wonder what's going on in the White House ?

I really couldn't give a flying turd about Biden's kid. What is amazing is how many Obama officials needed waivers on the FBI extensive background check (I went through one when I was hired-a boy I coached when I was in Law school in 82-83 said he had an FBI guy show up at his office and ask about me in early 1990: when the FBI guy said what did I do well, the kid said-he had the best backhand in the entire University!). The reason why, if you had drug use (no convictions, FIVE YEARS BEFORE the operative period-no big deal. IF YOU HAD drug use within that five year period it had to be explained. Current or recent illegal drug use would cause you to FAIL the BGC so lots of Obama WH staffers had to get presidential WAIVERS

Apology accepted because you were so generous above when you didn't have to be and so few would've been. And I've been saying the same thing about Presidential kids since Chelsea Clinton was attacked for being homely. (Boy, she sure showed 'em, didn't she?)

I don't care who the parent or the kid is; it's repulsive. Also dumb when the kid is in his freaking 40's.

And cheap--did I mention cheap?

But I'm not a Republican.

How can something that happened more than a year ago, was resolved 8 months ago possibly be breaking news? It's OLD news, which is why you can't find much about it on the internet.

Keep trying, tho'! Got to get all the dirt in the limelight before those mid-term elections!

Isn't there some way you can blame this on President Ebola ?

Oh, I've got this one. If Obama hadn't tapped Biden as his Veep, we'd never have heard of this.

I've been really curious how many in Obama's White House were able to get a security clearance.

I read that only about half in the Clinton White House were able to get a security clearance.
