Obama: ‘I Felt Perfectly Safe’ Hugging, Kissing Hospital Workers Who Took Care Of Ebo

Re: Obama: ‘I Felt Perfectly Safe’ Hugging, Kissing Hospital Workers Who Took Care Of

It's really not subject to rational conjecture.

Yes, the world healthcare experts, and CDC, and others tasked with stopping Ebola in Africa, containing the epidemic, and preventing one from breaking out in the U.S. are self evidently IRrational....

Give me a break. Of course it's subject to rational conjecture unless you deem anyone who disagrees with you is irrational. Bottom line is there are many alternatives between doing nothing with returning workers, and mandatory 42 day quarantine. I'm perfectly fine with twice or more times daily monitoring, keeping them away from public places to prevent irrational panic, off planes and buses, etc. but there is just no scientific or medical purpose served by mandatory house arrest of what will be hundreds, maybe thousands over time, of returning workers. The downside is great, and the benefits approaching zero over close monitoring of those individuals.

Meaningless irrelevant factless sarcasm implying all these agree with whatever point you'd ever want to make, when that's clearly false.

False, and obviously so, and on all counts.

You've asserted errors of fact, and when that's pointed out to you, that the relevant facts I present make it crystal clear that quarantine is the right approach for high-risk people, about which there is no rational conjecture, you simply post "No there is!", without any factual basis for your assertion.

Take a look at what California has done: http://www.debatepolitics.com/general-political-discussion/208278-california-mandates-ebola-quarantines.html.

It seems like the right approach.

High-risk people returning from West Africa who've had intimate exposure to Ebola sufferers (like Dr. Spencer and Nurse Hickox) will be quarantined, either in a facility, if home-quarantine is not viable (meaning there are other people living in that home or the neighborhood opposes it), or at home.

Low-risk people, like those who are just in West Africa to stay at the military coordinating headquarters and others who do not have any direct contact with those who are symptomatic and suffering from Ebola, they will simply get monitored observation, as you present.

Principles will guide the California health officials in making their decision, not politics or the whining of this or that person saying "I always used Ebola-protective gear" when everyone knows that gear is in short supply and some of said gear really isn't Ebola-protective safe, but mere makeshift.

There simply is no downside to this approach, not in reality. No one so far has refused to volunteer because a quarantine might be required of them when they return, in any state with a quarantine requirement for high-risk workers.

But Obama doesn't even like this approach.

Yet the other day in California a false alarm where a student vomited in class who had had contact with one of the Dallas nurses during her incubation as she was beginning to show symptoms caused an entire class to evacuate.

You may not like the intelligent real concerns of the great majority of Americans, but if we ignore them then more of these situations will occur as people scramble to protect themselves in various increasing scenarios.

Can't have this happen in the world's 8th largest economy, or that will for sure tank Wall Street.

California is doing the right thing by all Americans in doing what's necessary and right to prevent an epidemic of Ebola.
