Our mayor, senators, governor and house reps have all either been interviewed or made statements, and the various DC agencies have al sought to reassure everyone that things are under control. Lots of pictures of people wearing masks at the Cleveland airport, though - both workers and passengers. Ironically, I was just telling Vesper earlier today that I wasn't comfortable taking a plane to go on vacation!

Yeah and an hour ago.....CDC Freiden just stated that there will possibly be more cases coming in days. So there it is.....they know there is more.

Second US Ebola case 'very concerning,' more possible.....

The second infection of a Texas health care worker with the dangerous Ebola virus is "very concerning," officials said Wednesday, warning more US cases were possible in the coming days. The second woman should not have boarded a domestic flight in the days before she was diagnosed, though there was an "extremely low likelihood" that she could have infected fellow travelers, said Thomas Frieden, the head of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

"She was in a group of individuals known to have exposure to Ebola. She should not have traveled on a commercial airline," Frieden told reporters. CDC guidelines outline the need for "controlled movement," and that does not include taking any kind of public transportation, he said. The CDC is seeking to interview 132 people who took the same Frontier Airlines flight as the woman on October 13 from Ohio to Texas. Frieden described the latest case as "very concerning" and said officials were preparing for more.....snip~

Apparently, there are now reports that she contacted CDC with concerns about her fever, but it fell below the threshold for high risk.

Right now, there remains no reason for panic. But work remains to be done to ensure that the risk of such a situation is minimized and the need for such work likely extends to the CDC, if this news report is accurate.

Maybe it's just me, but doesn't anyone else find it odd that we were initially told that only direct contact with blood or bodily fluids, via an open wound, or intimate contact, would spread the virus, but now they are worried about just being on the same flight as someone who was not yet diagnosed?

She should have known better than to board that plane. If she had been in the military and I was her commanding officer I would push for a court marshal.

More cases potentially because 70 staff had access to Duncan.

I believe a Dallas church gave Duncan the money to bring him here. That church needs to pick up the cost of his care.

The way the federal government is handling this flys in the the face of logic, reason and common sense!
