No, we don't. Please show me a civil union in any state that currently has same sex marriage bans, then show me how those are recognized by other states and/or the federal government.

Since I know you can't do this, that means that there is no equal protection.

And yes, I am all for destroying states' rights for individual rights when the state is full of bullies.

What makes this an issue now and one that by all estimates involves less than 5% of the American population? I contend it has nothing to do with pursuit of happiness but rather malcontents who are looking for and seeing attention. I have no use for these people nor for their cause especially if it isn't passed by the state electorate
Your company is not the government. The government gives over a thousand benefits, privileges, rights, etc. to legally married spouses, not those in civil unions.

Before that, same sex couples were being persecuted by society and the government because it was believed that they had a mental disorder. It's called ignorance. Education is the cure.

You know the outcome of your efforts and that is why people like you don't want a Constitutional Amendment put to the people. The outcome won't be what you want.

What doesn't make sense to me is the passion you have and the excuse you make about this being about pursuit of happiness. This is nothing but personal arrogance and a malcontent looking for attention. find it someplace else. The people of your state should decide the issue and that should be the case in every state.
Your side tried a constitutional Amendment on this issue twice, and failed, twice. 2004 and 2006, while George W. was in office. Now, you don't have the support.

No Constitutional Amendment is getting passed on this issue because it isn't needed. Same sex marriage is already covered under the Constitution.

Point to the left handed gene. Point to the gene that makes people tall or short. Point out the gene that makes people fat or thin. Point to the gene that controls our attraction to people based on their race, I dare you.

This has to be the most contradictory comment I have ever seen from you. In one sentence you contradicted yourself. "I prefer science, show me the gay gene?" That shows that you don't even know what science says about genes in connection to personality at all. I doubt you would accept it even if there was a "gay gene" found, since you have proven that you don't know how this even works.

Please show me the Constitutional Amendment that protects gender.

SCOTUS has outright rejected your idea that the 14th only applies to constitutionally-enumerated rights.

That's because genes aren't singular on/off switches. You are waiting on something based on your really, really poor understanding of genetics. Being gay isn't just a matter of one gene switching on or off. Don't demand other people conform to your scientific illiteracy.

Gender is already protected and that covers same-sex marriage.
