I find the entire concept that this has become a partisan issue just bizarre.

It's an infection control issue. Listen to the WHO and CDC rather than Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh. You'll all be better off and work yourselves into a frenzy.

The CDC said back on October 2cnd, that almost ANY Hospital in the US could handle Ebola patients.

The CDC told a nurse that treated Duncan that it was OK to board a Aircraft and fly AFTER she started exhibiting symptoms.

YOU listen to the CDC.

Its a PARTISAN issue because Libs equate credibility to contradiction and incompetence apparently, and Cons rely on common sense.

Any hospital can handle Ebola patients. Really. There is a lot of infectious stuff out there - universal precautions handle most very well.

Look at West Africa! Very few healthcare workers have contracted Ebola despite working with hundreds of patients.

This is an issue with some US hospitals - they SHOULD be up to the task. I've got to wonder how these nurses got the virus if they used standard precautions. Its not that easily transmissible.

As far as your second point, I'd like to see a reference on that one. Sounds unbelievable, and from what I recall, stuff that you say that sounds unbelievable usually.... is.

IMHO, Its partisan because wingnuts are at heart scared of things they dont understand, and they dont understand a whole lot when it comes to science.

The director of the CDC is an Obama appointee. Obola has the power to direct the CDC. Oh, I'm sorry, did I use a childish name to highlight the fact that the POTUS actually has the power to direct the CDC? Do you not think the prez should be on top of the Obola situation?

I'm sorry, but there are very specific protocols in place when facing potential epidemics, especially of a virus that kills around 70% of those infected.

The CDC has been violating those common sense protocols.

Which would not necessarily stop people from getting into north America, since the us border with Mexico is effectively nonexistent.

What does any of that have to do with "liberal progressives want this country to contract this disease?"

Someone made a ridiculously partisan statement. If you want to argue the merits of the CDC response, that's great, but no need to stupidly insult "liberal progressives'" motives in the process.

The protocols are not secret, and it was the cdc that MADE the protocols, so, they are not following their own rules. If this disease mutates to an airborne strain, you could see 100 million Americans dead... (Yes, that's a bit of a worst case scenario) But, given your AGW alarmist stance, you might think that a good thing so that there's less people producing co2.

Ebola is classified as a bsl-4 contagion, look it up, it's not secret, I know you wouldn't take my word for it, even if I did spoon feed the sources to you, so... Go for it.

So she flew when she was a symptomatic. No fever, and her temp was recorded before the flight.

Shouldn't be an issue.

Just been listening to more hysteria on the radio tonight. The hysteria level is high, the actual threat level is really, really low.

I wonder how many gunshot wounds were brought into Texas Presbyterian this week? Apparently that's not a health issue tho.

Lol ! Gun shots don't require CDC personal to suite up in full Hazmat suites everytime they come within 10 feet of a gunshot victim.

He publicly stated " she shouldn't have flown ". Maybe you should explain to him that her flying was " shouldn't be an issue ".

Look, all these contradictions and screw ups by a Federal agency thats SUPPOSED to have this under control ( Friedman stated on October 5th that they would " stop Ebola in its tracks " ) may inspire confidence in your average Obama voter, but not me.

Right, and that's 2 more people, with about 2 more weeks or so before the longest incubation period comes through.

You are right, it's not at panic level yet. However, this is still getting worse in Africa, and now that it's known that they can come and get healthcare.

When it gets to thousands in every city that are getting it, ya... But the HANDLING OF THIS IS something to be deeply concerned about. By not shutting down flights containing people from Ebola countries (which also includes Canada, Germany, and Spain, and possibly others), and not locking down the border to the best of their abilities, to, at the least quarantine people coming in, for the 21 days, it risks turning into an outbreak that is uncontrolled.

If this gets bad enough people are just goin to hunker down, and stop going to work, leave cities, and wait for this to burn itself out. It can still be contained, but there are not enough hospital facilities that can deal with Ebola patients.

Contrary to gunshot wounds, where if you survive 24 hours, odds are you are going to survive the wound. Whereas, Ebola kills about 70% or more that contract it, and each person that catches it acts as a vector to spread it further... Then there are those who will contract it, and not get sick, but they pass it to other people.

So, I agree, we are not in a panic situation, but it's still a very serious situation, and cannot be treated lightly. You don't want the measures that will be brought upon the people if this becomes a serious outbreak of thousands in multiple cities.

That's how much trust I have in the GOP to sabotage the President--their stated #1 goal.

At least with ISIL and Putin you know where it's coming from--not so with these GOP traitorous skunks .

Thats true, if this starts to really grow, it will shut down whats left of this economy.

Schools and business, especially places where crowds congregate will turn into ghost towns.

And its going to fall back on the CDC and the Obama administration's initial process of dealing with this virus.

Their decision to continue to allow travel out of Ebola plagued Nations.

It STARTED when the Obama administration left the doors wide open for Ebola carriers to enter into this Country.

The doors are STILL open as he refuses to ban flights out of Liberia.

Actually she was symptomatic (not asymptomatic) before the flight to Cleveland, Ohio. She lied to the CDC about her other symptoms for days and probably took aspirin to lower her fever while in Ohio. Ohio's department of health is worried and are actually in the process of trying to find over 1,000 people she might have contact with on Saturday and Sunday.

This isn't hysteria, this is turning into a pandemic VERY quickly in the US due to CDC and others not actually understanding Eloba fully or flat out telling half-truths to the public. Rate of Infection is key.. and right now it's for every 1 patient with Eloba, 2 will get it. Right now you have 70 some in Dallas, plus head health officials and idiot politicians (Judge) who were in DIRECT contact.
 
Anybody else notice that the two Texas nurses are no longer at the Texas hospital? If I'm not mistaken, they've been sent via the same aircraft that brought the US people from Africa over to GA's Emory hospital. Guess the Texas hospital couldn't handle it / didn't have all the training and equipment needed.

I figure this a good move. Now if no one caught it on the plane that the nurse took, as it's be all over hell's acres. We might get lucky.

But we've gotta stop importing potential viral vectors from overseas. Send all the people and equipment they need in Africa, by all means. Just don't let any of their people into the country without a non-optional 3 week quarantine period.

It has to be contained at the source. Once an infected person is on an airplane, in that closed and close quarters environment, it'd e sure to spread to other passengers.

Explain why you believe this is relevant to us refusing to allow people from Ebola country the permission to come here.

It will probably come down to quarantining planes on runways, ships in port. *Americans* sitting on planes for hours or being taken to Q faciilities....against their will? Ugly. The screaming about civil rights will begin.

This is your fault. Close the borders. Secure the borders. Refuse entry to people who have been to Ebola country.

Hopefully Ebola will run its course and Q'ing plane loads of people here (I mean beyond 'monitoring like they are doing now) will be a rare occurrence, if it does come to that.
