Texas Health Care Worker Tests Positive for Ebola

If there is an Ebola outbreak, it's likely to be the poor who are hit the hardest. Which means he's doing nothing currently to protect the poor from what could happen. The CDC has predicted an outbreak.. why is Barack Obola not listening to the CDC?

Where do you get this crap from?

He does listen to the CDC and it's the CDC that will take stronger measures if necessary. Already they are considering specialty locations for positive cases.

So I'm supposed to take your word for it that it's false? What are your qualifications? Self anointed virologist? You can't even post a link to back up your claims.

Even though I don't have 100 percent confidence in any federal entity, I sure don't get my information from Joe Blow on the Internet.
I don't know what you're supposed to do, knowledge obtaining-wise.

Perhaps you might Google some basic virology from which you may glean commonly known fundamentals.

My knowlege is cumulative from multiple sources over time.

No...if it goes into your stomach (thru your mouth) it does not survive stomach acids. I mentioned eye. I mentioned wound. Yes, pick your nose and you could transmit it.

It's not likely....it's very unlikely. They believe the nurse got it thru improper procedures with her gear. It's still pretty much 'contact.'

Our troops are in less danger than they are in Afghanistan or Iraq.

It would appear that the CDC disagrees with you.

Q&As on Transmission | Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever | CDC

Although coughing and sneezing are not common symptoms of Ebola, if a symptomatic patient with Ebola coughs or sneezes on someone, and saliva or mucus come into contact with that person’s eyes, nose or mouth, these fluids may transmit the disease.

Direct contact means that body fluids (blood, saliva, mucus, vomit, urine, or feces) from an infected person (alive or dead) have touched someone’s eyes, nose, or mouth or an open cut, wound, or abrasion.

May her recovery be swift and complete.

And if she doesn't, the political ramifacations will be explosive. Criticism is starting to pile up on Director Frieden.

When it actually "spreads" and not just precautions let us know. Until then you speak hyperbole.

Not into the truth much are you. Did she go back to her apartment? Did they say she has the Ebola?

So again.....she took it with her wherever she went. So it didn't stay in the hospital.....like you stated.

Sure it is.

Reading is fundamental.....that's why they went and decontaminated her apartment and isolated the dog. :doh

Again.....you stated that it didn't leave the hospital. She went home to her apartment.....she was infected. :doh

Didn't they isolate her boyfriend ?

Thought I read that somewhere.

Yeah they did say someone else.....but they did report on the dog today. Saying it wasn't showing any signs. Still they have the pet isolated.

"Explain it. Why is this in our national interest? Be specific. or don't play the game."

Be specific. Or don't play the game.

C'mon, you can do it standing on your head."
I shouldn't have to explain the answer to that question. It's common sense.
Given that we have no vital national interest it was clear from the beginning that you would be unable to articulate it. That is common sense.

Still more credible than your comment. Assuming for the moment that someone is rich enough to afford the airfare, Why would anyone pay twice the fare to bypass treatment in Europe (say) for the hideously expensive and more distant treatment offered in the USA?

Hardly; you think its no big deal to allow people from places with an Ebola outbreak in the US and that oceans will prevent it from happening.

News flash, it didn't.

Where do you draw the line? Incubation is 21 days, and you are only infectious once symptoms (which resemble flu) are present.

No big deal? Its interesting you can't see the danger in that.

It pretty much requires intimate contact....health care workers, family members. Bodily fluids must enter another person's body.

So sneezing on someone now is considered intimate contact?

We know about the flu every year. We CANNOT keep it from crossing borders and infecting people all over America.

The flu doesn't have a mortality rate of 70%.

Ebola death rate hits 70% | New York Post

Scaling back from the realities of the disease itself, the more we restrict air travel, the more we harm the economy. The more people in this country that fear Ebola, the fewer people go out and spend money. The more cases actually on the ground? The more people stop going to work. Infrastructure suffers, people dont make $ and they dont spend $. This is not rocket science. A true quarantine of communities would be a nightmare, not just economically but it would end up failing and crime and disease would spread. Will our troops fire on our own people? Will the police stay on the job? Will hospital staff? Look at what has just happened. All public servants will go home to try and protect their families.

Paranoia? How much do West Africans from Ebola stricken nations contribute to the US economy? Restrictions will keep the disease out. Your attitude about it doesn't.

I've been reading about this...in science, epidemiology texts, and fiction...for 40 yrs. So far your perspective is limited to a pinhole.

So you know as much about Ebola transmission as the nurse who contracted it.

Unless you have blood in your boogers and your boogers land on someone's open wound or mucas membrane, then no.

There you go! Proof that Obama would do everything in his power to keep Ebola out of the country, since the conservative/Republican party line is that he and Democrats have no voting base and no chance of winning without the poor!
