These days, the CDC isn't known for making intelligent decisions.

I will leave it to other sovereign countries to determine what to do. We can stop more ebola-infected from coming here by denying them visas.

Why do you believe this is relevant? We can do what is right. If other nations fail to do the same we can add them to Ebola country. No one has a right to travel to the United States.
Never said any differently. Only said we dont have control over who gets on planes to the US....or certainly not as much as we'd like.

And so we deal with them on planes or in airports here.

Anyone who has been to Ebola country should be denied entry until after they have exceeded the incubation period of 21 days.

I never said they should be allowed entry. Anywhere. Ever. Feel free to post where I did.

It's not the CDC's job to even consider people's civil rights. WHere did you get that from?

They are to advise the govt on the disease, treatment, prevention, quarantine, period. Not the consequences of the necessary actions on civil rights.

So, are you still convinced it's not in our national interests to have our military assist in controlling and supporting Ebola medical efforts over in Africa?

If it becomes necessary, they can secure *people* and control transportation there. It wont be popular with their govt...but HEY! It would be in our national best interests!

(I noted that you chose not to go all 'na huh' and just cut this one out completely.)

From you actually - your post #407 which hinted at the CDC not wanting to impinge on peoples rights

I would have thought so too but so far, Ebola has been politicized and with this new Ebola Czar who's basically a Harvard lawyer who's main accomplishment was fighting for Al Gore's voting results in Florida in 2000 - it seems Ebola will continue to be politicized in the coming weeks. The head of the CDC seems on board with that as well. Tell me if you see it different.
I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on whats being proposed here, hed agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute. - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.

We have control over who flies in. If we do not grant them permission they cannot come.
