Really? I was thinking of Atlanta for two reasons:

    1) The CDC is there and thus you would assume best equipped to handle such cases, but maybe more importantly...

    2) It's close to Alabama than DC is...

Here ya go Liz. From what the CDC has out.

In the current outbreak, most new cases are occurring among people who have been taking care of sick relatives or who have prepared an infected body for burial. Health care workers are at high risk, especially if they have not been properly equipped with protective gear or correctly trained to use and decontaminate it.....snip~

Short of building a wall around West Africa (which I suspect you'd like to do in any case), stop fixating on the irrelevant. An infectious disease outbreak of this magnitude will get to the US due to modern travel patterns. It's simply unavoidable It cannot be stopped by Customs and whether it comes through Dulles or LAX, there will be more than one isolated case getting here.

This is more Stupid Talk from the Right, avoiding the issue, which is the preparation for handling Ebola cases in a rational manner.

That's $11.3 billion... and yet an Ebola infected man can fly to the United States by simply lying to airport staff. When do Americans wake up and say that we're not making progress here?

Protective gear is supplies in all hospitals that I know of. For contact precautions, it would be gloves and hand-washing, gowns if you expect to come in contact with bodily fluids. As I keep saying repeatedly, nurses know how to do this. There is no special training. It's what we have been doing for decades.

So should we spend more money on disease control or not in light of the Ebola outbreak? Guide us on the path of conservative health care policy.
In light of the Ebola Outbreak, we should add zero dollars to the CDC budget. Ebola isn't a threat.

When there is a (true) pandemic in this country, the CDC, no matter how much money you would throw at it, wouldn't be able to handle the job anyways and will need assistance from larger entities including FEMA and the US Military.

And before we start throwing money, let's not forget our debt is currently 17.8 trillion dollars and increasing.

He/she has a point. The man lied to come here, after he had been directly handling infected individuals. At least one of them died within hours, if what I'm reading is accurate.

And it's come back each time. What's your point?
