This just in after that story about the other guy who ran into the White House...

Bogus Congressman Said to Get Backstage at Obama Event - Businessweek

My question is, if Obama security is so bad, why hasn't he been killed yet? I'm sure there are tons of people who wouldn't mind judging by the comments sections on some of these security leaks.

Remember too the case of Michaele and Tareq Salahi too where the couple managed to crash a White House state dinner in 2009.

The Secret Service has apparently learned nothing in the interim.

Damn you should have put a warning on that link! I fully didn't expect to see a picture of Nancy Pelosi not wearing an underwire bra holding hands with Chris Christie.

I didn't get that picture either. Why not show, the guy himself?? And do a comparison with the congressman he claimed to be.

The article said the USSS did it's job and fully screened the man. If that was the case why did he get in? Makes no sense to me.

If the Secret Service had shot an Iraqi war veteran on the White House lawn while Obama wasn't even in the White House, who only had a small knife, Issa would be holding hearings on it and Fox News would be broadcasting photos his body lying on the grass, with the caption "This Is How the Obama Administration Treats Vets".

So whatever conservatives say about WH security, should be ignored by intelligent people. Nothing but bad faith arguments.

That's a load of crap and you know it.

There is SOME truth to it. That is in reference to FOX. I doubt the ISSA part but FOX would be all over it.

And all of the other media outlets, especially the liberal ones, would say it was okay to kill a man who wasn't a threat to anyone. Right?

I think it is ridiculous to say the the SS are acting in some reactionary way to media. The SS are an A-political security force for the POTUS, and regardless of who is in that office they are supposed to be better than that.

Now, it is no secret that I don't like Obama, or his lying ways, but I sure as heck don't want to see him harmed, that would be horrible for the US.

Actually Pelosi and Christie could both benefit from an underwire bra.

Their actions in the last few years really make you wonder. Either they just don't care if Obama gets hurt or the new breed of secret servicemen can't match those of yesteryear.

Or maybe the Secret Service has always been this way and the only difference is people are whistleblowing.

First of all believe it or not this is not a blame it on Bush post. But I saw an opinion piece that said after Bush moved the USSS from the treasury department to DHS moral has been low. According to the piece the USSS now has to Now compete and scramble for funds with the rest of the agencies and no longer has the pride and distinction it had when it was located in the treasury department.

No idea if this has any merit. Just stating what I read.

How many of you know the USSS is still is involved with investigating counterfeit money and cybercrimes? Perhaps if they specialized just in protecting the president they could protect the president better?

Come on...thats just a silly excuse. Regardless of the scope of the SS or where they hang their hat, the organization has 7000 employees, a mission that has been defined since its inception, and has a defined operating budget of 1.5 million. To suggest that somehow its Bush's fault for the organization being under the DHS vs Treasury (or its BUsh's fault because he made them let him take risks and that has screwed up their ability to defend the president-as was suggested on CNN a few days ago) and THATS why a White House security detail allowed a guy to jump the fence, run across the WH lawn area, enter the WH and get all the way to the East End is preposterous. There is no indication there was inadequate staff the staff was poorly trained, the staff had unclear mission goals and directives, or any other excuse. They ****ed up. Plain and simple. The Secret Service has had a pretty decent history of ****ing up. Effective leadership would have solved that problem.

Or, the leadership of the Secret Service is crap.

Is it really just the leadership? You may have a crappy boss but you still might do your best at your job. Maybe the whole system needs to be flushed out and started fresh.

It's management's responsibility to see that the standards are enforced.

Never suggested it was Bush's fault. Just wanted to know what your thoughts were if the move had any effect on their effectiveness.

I simply cannot fathom the White House Secret Service Detail is sitting in the WH agonizing over working under Homeland vs the Treasury. There is no excuse for not doing their job. If anything it is an indictment of their leadership not cracking skulls a long time ago. This IS the same organization that has in the past few years been found to be getting drunk and buying hookers while on official details.

Probably the latter...That and the politicization of the leadership.
