US Refuses to Turn Back flights over Ebola

US won't turn back flights over Ebola | TheHill

The United States will not turn back flights from West Africa over concerns about the Ebola virus, the White House said Monday.

"There are in place a lot of precautions to ensure the safety of the American public and the traveling public," White House spokesman Josh Earnest said Monday at a press briefing.

Asked if the administration would block flights from the affected countries, he said, "No, not at this point."

This statement was given at the beginning of August, Right ?

Did the " intelligence community " screw this one up too ??

No surprise here, we have an administration of 'do nothing' until something happens to warrant action,
then blame the lack of intelligence on the issue.

Yep, these people are of the "Close the barn door later" variety. Remember the days when we would actually question people entering the country about disease, do they have a job, a place to stay, etc...? Now, we let the worst of the worst in, we don't even ask anymore. That might offend someone. Plus, once they're in, they know what party to vote for if they want the government to take other people's earnings and hand it over to them. Is there any scenario where the leftist thinking ends well?

I don't know the answer to this question so I'll ask it - does the CDC have the power to overrule a President and the administration when it comes to matters such as this? I can see that the President and administration may take a "political" stance but what happens if the scientists and medical doctors disagree and want to shut things down?

The simplest answer to this question is no. The Secretary of Health and Human Services and the Surgeon General can take some action on their own but something like that requires an Executive Order from the President.

Yep, just like Bush with 9/11. Ignored the warnings and then blamed the intelligence community. Presidents don't take responsibility.
