Secret Service Director Julia Pierson Resigns After Breaches

This conservative was about ready for a lynching too.

Where do YOU stand? AOK for people to fire live rounds at the WH? AOK for an armed stranger to sashay into an elevator with the president? AOK for an intruder to break into the WH and run amock? AOK to make distorted incident reports, or pretty well cover them up as in the case of the elevator episode?

Just a straight answer this time, please, no wisecracks, and I hope you can show that you actually possess a sense of appreciation for how serious it us for the President to be in constant danger due to the incompetence of his security detail.

It is not the president's personal security detail or personal residence since he didn't build or fund it - they are perks that his office is provided by the taxpayers. The SS are public employees paid for with public funds (tax money) to perform a specific mission authorized by our congress critters. I am getting very tired of the idea that Obama alone gets to decide when, where and how our money is being wasted. Obama may be fine with the IRS choosing to harass those that he cares little about, with embassy personnel being sacrificed to keep up some bizarre image of trusting the "good Muslim" nations and doling out endless pork to his favorite supporters. We the people, not the king, must have a say in how our border is being secured and how the federal laws that our representatives have passed are being enforced.

I don't think the ol' girl should have been promoted, in the first place. It should have been obvious that she couldn't handle the job, BEFORE she was promoted.

The SS's job, among other tasks, is to protect the President without endangering anyone else's rights.

And the SS has succeeded because O is alive and well, as are the other Presidents before him for over 30 years.

Results are the only thing that matters in job performance. If people in the WH were being shot and/or harrassed by outsiders every day, then there would be an issue.

But since that hasn't happened, it doesn't matter. If someone succeeds at a job by fulfilling the desired objectives, no one should care how that job is done. I don't believe in micromanagement.

Seriously? You wish to dole out tax money to federal "security" employees and call it success if nothing bad happens every day? You don't need to be shot, stabbed or beaten every day to consider it to be a very bad idea not to limit entry to unknown visitors. A very important part of the SS mission is to limit access (that famous Obama word) to the places under their control - one does not use locks on their home and car to keep the honest people out. ;)

You don't understand this poster. He actually has no problem with people who might kill the President getting close to him.

Another one? Really? :lamo

Libbos are such a ****ing joke!

No one has the right to storm the White House. Anyone that does so should expect to be gunned down.

Yes it is his personal security detail, and will be even after he leaves office, if he wants it. The fact that it is a publicly funded perk is in no tension with the fact that the perk is enjoyed by the person Obama for his personal use and benefit anywhere in the world, whether he is working or playing.

All off-topic, and a waste of time, good-bye.

The biggest jokes are the right wing clowns who are running around trying to criticize the Obama-era SS that succeeded based on actual results (O is still alive and well),

while defending their hero dumbya whom history has proven screwed up based on the actual results of his silly invasion (al Qaeda, Zarqawi, ISIS, ...).

Yes, they do something similar in North Korea.

NOPE.

FAILURE is defined as not achieving the desired results, which, in this case, is keeping O alive and well without violating anyone else's civil rights/freedoms.

The SS succeeded at that, and therefore, it did not fail.

you do realize that procedure is just as important as result right? There is a reason the director resigned. Nice try, but you don't know the real world. Procedure matters not just results.

She was chief of staff at the time of the 2012 prostitution scandal, which might well have been a disqualifying factor for me if I had been doing the hiring. Got any more dirt on her?

Surely the thing that caught her attention, perhaps even making her quake in fear, is noticing the her resignation is the first thing that the Dems and Reps of Congress have agreed upon in a year. Surely, hell freezing over is a remarkable and humbling event.

I agree.

I expect that the secret service is probably subject to dangerously restrictive rules of engagement, though.

The procedures apparently kept all presidents safe for 30 years. In other words, it worked, which is all that matters.

No freedom-loving individual would ever desire more security for the regime than the bare minimum necessary.

Now, they do, I imagine.

So if I abuse my government credit card by buying hookers but I pay it off ahead of time everything is good right? Sorry, WRONG, I would be fired. the procedure is I don't use my government credit card for that.

Plain and simple, NO ONE is supposed to make it into the White House like that NO ONE. Now YOU may look at ONLY the results, well reality is other people don't.

The procedures DO matter.

Perhaps you would prefer North Korea where govt. guards aren't subjected to these "dangerously restrictive ROE."

Er, depends. What kind of $$ are we talking about? $1000? $10,000? $1,000,000,000?

IN a regime where mindless corporate-backed Congressional lackeys doll out $100 billions in corporate welfare, somehow, a few wasted dollars on hanky-panky doesn't seem like a big deal.

Yes. And it apparently comes at a bargain--the SS director is able to protect the Pres without the use of excessive force for a measly $150K salary.

Results are the only thing that matters. The rule is simple: you get the results, you keep your job and I won't complain. You don't get the results, you're fired. THE END.

The SS is limiting access, or else O would be dead by now. They're just doing it in a way that doesn't make them thugs, unlike, say, the Ferguson police dept. which maces everyone in sight that smirks at them.

I am not sure I would go that far.

Under NK RE a trespasser would be dead before he got to the top of the WH fence.
I might let him get as far as the WH front door. I might not, either. If he was wearing
bulky clothing which might conceal an explosive device I would give the green light
to take him out on the lawn.

One thing we need more of are K9 assets- no trespasser would get anywhere near
the WH with a few K9 unleashed against him.

He's alive and well, because of luck, not because the Secret Service had anything to do with it.

So the SS succeeded for 30 years because of luck? ?

They benefitted from luck, recently. There's no arguing that.

So they protected what some would say is the "most powerful man in the world" from getting hurt or shot for 6 years because of luck?

Considering that a nutjob made it all the way to the East Room, before he was tackled by an off duty agent and an armed, convicted criminal was allowed into the same elevator car as the president, and no one was hurt, or killed...yes...it was luck.
