North Texas Patient Tested for Ebola Virus

Omg, wtf? :lamo

( you appear to have a really bad case of whatever ails you, lol)

You mean what ails Texas. The agency that handles outbreaks of diseases like Ebola -- but by $600M by the freakish rightwing budget hawks, many of which come from Texas. Oh, the irony.

This a-hole should be criminally prosecuted......after he knew he was exposed to Ebola in Liberia he got on several planes with hundreds of unsuspecting innocent people.......exposed his children to the disease and sent them off to several schools with innocent children

The report I read here stated that he only developed symptoms several days after arriving in the US and so wouldn't have been infectious when travelling.

Not this time but there could be an infectious person on a plane in the future.

More like conservative budget cuts are spreading disease.

So the Conservatives have somehow prevented Customs from checking a persons passport ?

How much money does it cost to halt all travel out of Sub Sahara Africa to the US ?

Why dont you FOR ONCE, be specific and explain exactly how " budget cuts " led to this man getting on a plane ?

Or are you going to continue to embarrass yourself ?

Lol !!

Yes, full body hazmatt suites with respirators for the first responders and or the CDC clean up crew

For the rest of us ? " Wash your hands and dont panick "

Why are people being allowed to fly in from Sub Sahara Africa at all ?

Excellent question.

Containment is key.

Yes, but I was only answering a concern about this incident. Disccusing the possibility of travel bans is an entirely different prospect from needlessly panicing about this patients fellow passengers.

The Dallas hospital sent this person home even though he complained of being ill and told ER personnel he was from Liberia in West Africa. He wasn't readmitted until two days later.

Yeah they really dropped the ball. All we need is a tragedy of errors and it's likely with the overpaid inflated egos we have in our health care system. Just a matter of time...

What kind of idiocy led you to come to this brilliant hypothesis? LOL

The idiocy of the GOP cutting the budget of the Center of Disease Control. Stooooopid.

The estimate is that about 200,000-400,000 people are going to contract Ebola in Africa this year. Every expert in the field has concluded it will get to the US. It has nothing to do with Customs. Like a typical conservative you're deluding yourself. So we better prepare to treat it here.

Now, what party slashed the budget of the CDC? Say it loud, Fenton, say it loud!

How about raising taxes on the rich to pay for preventing a huge epidemic. It appear all the conservative talking points are collapsing on this one.

Yes, because Ebola just popped up out of nowhere in the last 2 years.

No, it didn't exist back in the 70s or 80s or 90s ( it so existed )

The CDC's budget was $11.4 BILLION in the 2014FY. Are you telling me they can't prepare a response on that?

So it's OK to cut $600M from the CDC when we face a new dangerous disease.

I guess this is how conservatives "think".

And the answer is, of course, NO, since the CDC has a lot to do besides track down and contain Ebola. And now they have a lot less money to do it with. Thanks to conservatives and their freakish desire to shut down the government.

By the way, a GOP House investigation committee (having nothing better to do but attack Obama) resulted in two CDC research labs involving dangerous diseases being shut down a few months ago.

Thank you, conservatives, for putting your weird ideology over public safety once again.

Why were those labs shutdown ??

I mean are you seriously trying to defend what happened at the CDC that led to those actions being taken ?? Is anyone but George Bush responsible for their actions in your twisted world view ??

So it was budget cuts that allowed an Ebola victim access into the US.

I wondered what happened to all those Ebola screenings I used to get from airport security.

Yep, it was " budget cuts "....

I'm beginning to think Sheila Jackson Lee might be posting here under the pseudonym of " Faceofbachman ".

Oh and it was GOP budget cuts that led to the murder of the four Americans in Benghazi.

Ebola will make it's way to Mexico 'fore long and then it will cross the Rio Grande like wildfire.

Maybe the Mexican gov't should curtail flights from Texas.

Too bad it's not reducing our 17 trillion dollar debt.

Greetings, Roadvirus. :2wave:

Thank you for your response - you beat me to it! Why is it that the frst thing you hear is always "raise taxes on the rich?" They are already paying the bulk of this country's taxes! Why don't we instead hear "provide jobs for the millions of unemployed in this country so they can pay their share?" That was a promise made by Obama, who said he was focused on it like a laser! Perhaps if we stopped providing arms to the rebels all over the world who want to kill each other, we'd have money for things that are needed here! :2mad:

The Mexican Government doesn't have the authority to " curtail " flights from inside the United States.
