Secret Service head in hot seat after White House breach details revealed

They let a guy onto White House grounds.....

Anyone mention the weapons and ammo this guy had in his car yet?

They intentionally let him in?

A House hearing! Give me a break. Just fix the damn problem. Congress is all over this public hearing like white on rice. Great teevee ops for this do nothing, gridlocked worthless Congress to show how they "serve" the People. My pink Irish-American butt.

Fix it and work on issues that should have public attention. Congress is playing the public like a fiddle. All show for November.

That's the only way anyone can get in unauthorized. The White House is a highly secured area under 'positive control'. Cameras, sniffers, dogs, a dedicated satellite in geo-sinc orbit looking down on the Whitehouse 24/7 with a live feed, snipers, armed SS everywhere....you can't get in unless they let you in.

Of course they're going to make it look like an accident or oversight so as to avoid a charge of treason, but a lot of things had to 'fail' for someone to jump the wall and get all the way to the East Room on foot.

There is no indication that he was "intetionally let in, because the SS is pissed". One guard was overpowered, and an alarm box was turned off. White House fence-jumper made it far deeper into building than previously known - The Washington Post

The only way an intruder can get past the wall without getting shot, is if the SS looks the other way.

The only way you get into the actual building is if they want you there.

There are many instances of people jumping onto the lawn, etc and not being shot.....

My point is that there are serious things to be concerned with. This is a secret service screw up. They caught the dude anyway. It's not like he made it to the royal bedroom and asked the president to tuck him in.

He made it way past the front door and into the living quarters.

so, the safety got him at the 15 yard line. next time, they won't leave the barn door open, i'd bet. still, we don't all need to demand resignations and stupid hearings about it. just lock the damned door and pay better attention.

He got into the living quarters. If the first family had been home it would have been a touchdown.

1: She works for Obama

2: She is a woman

3: She is not going to be fired

I don't know, that one hit pretty close to home. Maybe he could have an extra bomb dropped, and blame it on ISIS.

He got into the living quarters. If the first family had been home it would have been a touchdown.

He got to the east room, not the living quarters. Dont make things up

The ss cannot shoot jumpers. They are covered under the same supreme court cases as any other cop. Tennessee v garner and graham v oconnor.

Anything other claim is simply people who saw too many movies

The conflict between historical preservation and physical security is the reason you have people jumping the fence. Ever been to the whitehouse? That fence surrounding it is pretty, yet easy to circumvent. Its wrought iron, about 6' high, its straight up and down with a brick column every so often to support it. The paint on the iron is especially tacky. Good for getting a foothold.

Could a more modern fence that is taller and outward angled be installed? Sure. And it would virtually eliminate jumpers. But you have to get it past the wh curators office. I dont know who has final approval of what additions or modifications are added to the wh but i know the ss does not have that final say.

Over time, the ss has lost more and more bite because the needs of the staff trump the needs of security, today if you stay long enough you get a butler mentality, always trying to please whoever they are protecting and their staff. Compromise after compromise.

So if you make it far enough that you actually make some decisions, you have been conditioned. People who are good and would buck the system got fed up and left already. You cant throw a rock at another fed agency without hitting a FORMER ss agent.

As for the wh, thats the uniform division. Their morale has always been bad. Their bosses spend more time on chastising than leading, they are working 80 hour weeks. And the job is mindless. Stand or sit there and simply wait for the ninjas
To attack. They never do. When the occasional jumper jumps, it takes them off guard. So im not surprised.

Why is the leadership so bad? Idk, its been slowly eroded by political correctness, you have black female ud supervisors that commit fraud and instead of being fired they get promoted. Others losing guns. These are LT's and CPTs on the ud. Im not saying black females shouldnt be supervisors. But had those folks been white males they would have been shown the door.

Meanwhile they tell you to not harrass the staff. Bla bla

The agents in the field keep their heads down and dont speak out for fear of being unofficially black balled or sued for some type of equal opportunity thng.

Its no wonder things are awful.

Just like everything else in the administration, the Secret Service has gone to ****. No one's getting fired, because Obama would have to admit that his administration is an absolute cluster ****.

they described the intruder as bursting into the East Room dragging a security guard who had a baton and gun. I immediately thought "they should fire that guard." then I just heard the guard was a WOMAN(lord, what a sight that must have been). yes, let's put the President's life in danger all in the name of political correctness.

Let ME pick the guards for the White House. If they weren't all MALES the size of LINEBACKERS I wouldn't hire them. sue me. but I promise this wouldn't ever happen again

I don't know that they let him through because they are pissed off, but, it's truly a very far stretch to conclude that the typical SS security apparatus around our White House could "miss" a man scaling the fence, crossing the lawn and making it to the front door, and then, AND THEN, being rewarded with an unlocked door!!! This really is a bazaar situation. And I assume you read the op and are aware how far beyond the foyer he advanced. Look, the SS, compromised our presidents security in Venezuela, again in the Netherlands, in this instance were discussing here, and then we now learn that multiple shots were fired into the White House and the SS didn't even know it for four days when a housekeeper found a bullet stuck in a wall!!!

You don't consider this to be very serious? The guy had a knife and made it into the East Room of the White House.
What if he had a bomb vest underneath his clothes? Would that be serious enough for you?

Somebody coughed up the ball big time and the "whys" need to be asked and answered.

This is what happens when you piss-off your military.

Yes, I know the SS is technically law enforcement, but it's filled with Vets.

Doesn't say much for the professionalism of the vets then...or more likely your skewed ignorant interpretations of the professionalism of the vets in the secret service.

it's not serious enough for congressional hearings. it's political theater. and the congressman i heard on the radio expressing fake outrage really turned me off.

look, i am pretty good at being able to tell when someone is bull****ting me or when they don't really care except that their outrage is something that they can sell or score points with. this is a lapse in security. no one got hurt. they ****ed up, and any policy changes should be something that the secret service takes care of internally.

and yes, this isn't even a drop in the ocean compared to the fact that we've been at war for almost fourteen ****ing years and just signed up for another one. especially when considering that the goal of long term Middle Eastern stability cannot be achieved through external military force. it's maddening that no one looks at the problem objectively and comes to that conclusion. they're all just too busy rooting on their little political teams and being partisan. meanwhile, the infrastructure of this country is falling apart, and we are funding this terrorism **** every time we buy gas.

now, in comparison, just how outraged should i be that some mentally unstable person hopped the white house fence and got tackled inside? yeah, i think i'll stick to being outraged that this war is looking like it's going to last forever, and that nobody is even looking at the root problems in the region and that it is the job of regional powers, not the US, to fix them.

He got into the living quarters. If the first family had been home it would have been a touchdown.

If the family had been home, most likely he wouldn't even get to the 15 as security would have been heavier.
