Secret Service head in hot seat after White House breach details revealed | Fox News

Secret Service Director Julia Pierson will face questions about how an armed intruder jumped the White House fence and made it as far as the East Room when she testifies before a House committee on Tuesday.

Sources confirmed to Fox News on Monday that 42-year-old Omar Gonzalez overpowered a Secret Service officer in the Sept. 19 incident before a struggle and "wrestling" inside the executive mansion ensued. Gonzalez was eventually tackled by a counter-assault agent in the East Room after he reached the doorway to the Green Room, a parlor overlooking the South Lawn.

The revelation that the intruder made it much farther than originally known came on the eve of a scheduled House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing that will address the breach, as well as lawmakers' "concerns" about the Secret Service's security protocols.

Someone is going to lose their job. This is outrageous. I guess ISIS knows exactly where to go now. Unbelieveable!

The SS has dropped the ball more on Obama's watch then any other! And a White House housekeeper found a bullet lodged in a wall yesterday and upon examination it was discovered that multiple rounds were fired upon the White House four days earlier!

I had always had the utmost respect for the secret service. I am really shocked. There has to be some members of the service who are just pissed off at how their reputation has just gone down the tubes.

This is a damn shame, and I agree with you American - someone is going to lose his/her job over this, as it should be.

This isn't some random location, this is the fricking White House! Shame on the SS.

i would not count on any individual being fired over this. How many "scandals" (like fast & fuzzy, Solyndra, Benghazi, IRS or the VA) result in firing(s)? Generally the blame is paced upon "the system" and the standard reaction is to hold hearings, conduct studies and to formulate a more expensive (bigger gov't) "solution" to deal with the "crisis".

Yes and I can see it now - the outrage over this incompetent ss we have now can pave the way for a more broader and expensive security for the president.

Yep, locking the darn door is out of the question - since that solution does not require additional personnel.

Why don't they use their CAC's to secure access to the doors?

 right? Geez I only have a small little house and to get in you have to get through the security fence, get around my boxer, pick the locks or break a window, and then face one of us with our 9mm. I guess I can easily say I can provide more security than the ss.

I'm wondering if the SS dropping the ball is really because of bad leadership or because this President is not well liked..... it certainly makes one think doesn't it? And of course if there is some tension between this administration and SS - it's because the SS is obviously racist. :doh

This insider scenario is a possibility, but I don't think it has anything to do with that. Its probably more a case of complacency. I am not sure how often those guys are being rotated, but perhaps this incident should cause them to take a really good look at themselves.

That's nothing a UPS outfit and some lamb-chops can't hack.

i heard some outraged Republican congressman expressing outrage on the radio this morning. i'm more of the opinion that some idiot just bum rushed the gates. i save my outrage for **** like a war that lasts 14 ****ing years with no end in site while our roads are falling apart and the highway trust fund is nearly insolvent. then instead of fixing that, we extend one war and sign up for a new one.

that pisses me off a lot more than some moron playing hop the fence.

Dude you are unbelievable :doh

Just because you don't like the President doesn't mean everyone hates him. But regardless, They made a oath to protect the President regardless of his politcal lean !!!!!! I don't give two s***s if it is Reagan, Clinton, Bush, Obama, or if it was President Romney. They have a duty to protect the president.

Geez this partisan crap has gotten out of control

But that's not the topic. I'm more mad about neverending spending by politicians to garner votes.

My point is that there are serious things to be concerned with. This is a secret service screw up. They caught the dude anyway. It's not like he made it to the royal bedroom and asked the president to tuck him in.

This is what happens when you piss-off your military.

Yes, I know the SS is technically law enforcement, but it's filled with Vets.

Any indication that the SS is "pissed off"?

One article said he was armed, I don't remember seeing any detail on that.

My post wasn't partisan at all but asks the obvious questions. How you take my posts is irrelevant. Oaths are not always followed and are broken - I'm listening to the opening statements right now on the Oversight hearing and the question was brought up - why aren't protocols being followed and why are SS agents afraid to bring up security issues to their supervisors? Those questions are being asked by the ranking member Mr. Cummings. Take your accusations and flush them - not interested. I'm only interested in getting answers as to why this is occurring and why the SS has in the past few months failed so often.
