This was BO's trophy case for his FP. It is completely unraveling. Drone strikes strategy will have to change. So will the conflict with AQAP. The Shia have Parliament surrounded and homes of Politicians to, including the Defense Minister. What say ye?

Yemen faces power vacuum after president quits.....

Yemen faced a dangerous power vacuum Friday after its president announced his resignation over a deadly standoff with Shiite militia controlling the capital and lawmakers called an emergency weekend session. Prime Minister Khalid Bahah also tendered his resignation, saying he did want to be part of the collapse of the country.

The fall of Hadi's Western-backed government would raise fears of complete chaos engulfing Yemen, strategically located next to oil giant Saudi Arabia and on the key shipping route from the Suez Canal to the Gulf.....snip~

MMC, I'm probably not correct, but didn't some of the recent releases from GITMO go to Yemen? I get all those sad countries over there mixed up at times, since everyone is fighting each other!

Yep Lady P, they did release some from Gitmo to Yemen. Our people are getting out now, although there is limited people left at our Embassy.

This will also create some major issues with the Saud now. But at least the Saud got up their fence on the Yemen border.

Has BO peep's incompetent team even have anything to say about Yemen, yet? Or are they still confused over BO losing this trophy.

They are still trying to figure out how to spin it, no doubt.

Well why isn't that surprising. Just what can they say without looking like fools?

There is nothing they can say. So they will try to ignore it-or say nothing.

Re: Saudi Arabia warns Yemen violence could threaten global security

Wow, reading this thread is like watching Faux noise.

Let's not let details spoil a broad brush smear.

First the released detainees are SUNNI men while the rebels are SHIA. Enemies not partners...

Next two of the released detainees are dead due to drone strikes. Thank you Obama.

Third the issue is still in flux and there is little 'hope' the SUNNI faction will be in power.

Fourth, while it is disturbing to the 'crown' prince for Yemen to be openly an ally of Iran the fact is until recently the Sunni majority was suppressed in Yemen. While many don't like the rebels they are Shia and not likely to side with an ancient enemy, the Sunnis.

So using facts this is annoying to Saudi interests and until now the Saudis gave little attention to Yemen internal politics as long as the Saudi interests were upheld.

Sort of the way the Good ol' USofA handles much of the world...

Wow reading what you said.....just goes to show you aren't up to much on Yemen. Nor do you really understand that Sectarian divide issue.

First off the Detainees are Sunni and AQAP are Sunni and they have been going after the Shia and Zaydi. Oh and AQAP being Sunni and going after other Sunnis. Puts that into another perspective of what you didn't know.

Also the issue isn't in Flux. The parliament is being held Captive. The President has abdicated and stepped down. The US and Westerners are leaving the Country in a hurry.

Right the Saud paid so little attention they put up a border fence between Yemen. Just where do you get all that BS that you come up with.....as reality just isn't it.

If nothing else, they've actually supported some of it with covert funds, and only get involved in anything that directly affects them.

Now that Yemen, their back door neighbor is being destabilized, they cry again for help but use none of their massive wealth, military or support to fund and fight themselves. What a bunch of dummies we are for not forcing them to take more action, but we're too busy being their protector, since they controlled so much of our energy needs.
The citizens of Saudi Arabia are sympathetic to the terrorists. The government is afraid that if they go hard against the terrorists it might spark a revolution in Saudi Arabia.
