ISIS Boasts Air Strikes are not Effective

Our armed forces were crafted to adjust to any threat. Plus, we just spent 10 years fighting and defeating irregular forces.

What irregular forces have we defeated?

Vance, Obama didn't declare war other than "declaring war on war", which is virtually meaningless. It is like giving someone the sleeves out of your vest.

As you know only Congress has the power to declare war and that gaggle of wastrels doesn't have the balls to even debate the possibility of war. If it does debate war it won't be until most of those gutless selfserving ******s have been re-elected. Such is their sense of urgency and allegiance, or shameful lack thereof.

Obama cannot declare war and Congress won't even feckin talk about it.

The American people were lied to, shucked and jived regarding Iraq. We must have heard 5 reasons on why we needed to invade Iraq, all of them bogus and the tally in loss of human lives and suffering and the financial costs were/are astronomical. No war was declared. The public would never have signed on had they known the truth.
And yet...we are now dropping bombs. So...are we 'at war' or not?

Bush gave many reasons to the American people. They were not lies. Saddam committed acts of genocide. Saddam refused to comply with UN mandates re the disposition of his chemical weapons program. We KNOW that to be true because the UN passed SEVENTEEN resolutions demanding he do so. Saddam DID harbor and fund global acts of terror.

You conveniently ignored the part about democrats in congress spending 10 years declaring the dangers of Saddam and his WMD program, all long before Bush took office.

But NONE of that was the point of the thread you responded to. The point was that it is about ****ing time democrats stop lying about their actions. That they stop pretending it wasnt them, that they didnt know, that they werent engaged. Stop excusing them. Stop blaming others for their actions. Good lord...imagep would rather call Obama an impotent spineless bitch that was trick-****ed by Fox News into launching military attacks rather than admit Obama is responsible for his own actions and choices. Thats pathetic beyond words.

Not effective? Maybe. But as a boxing fan all my life, I've lost track of how many times I've seen a guy get rocked by a punch, and then back away grinning and shaking his head. That is usually a reliable sign that it hurt.

It was American tactics and weaponry that caused the Soviets to retreat from Afghanistan.

...not to mention the cost of that war was bankrupting their economy... No outsider has ever won a war in Afghanistan and held the country. Its history is mostly one tribe defeating another.

Obama told ISIS he was going to bomb them for months prior to actually doing it so they had plenty of time to disperse their men and weapons. We are bombing empty buildings and they are laughing at us.

OMG.... conditions have gone from ISIS publicly beheading their captives to them laughing at us..... that's the final straw. Nuke 'em. That'll show 'em.

And yet...we are now dropping bombs. So...are we 'at war' or not?

No. I thought I was clear on that. Obama cannot declare war and has not asked Congress to declare war. Congress won't do diddly until their fat asses get re-elected to a life of power and privilidge.

Throw enough **** on the wall and some of it will stick. That was the justification for Bush's War. As to the UN, bull****. Washington never listens to the UN unless it's to Washington's advantage. Further, the U.S. doesn't take marching orders from the UN. No one believes any justification for Bush's War.

No, I didn't. There was no reason to invade the sovereign nation of Iraq. Democrats and Republicans never debated on declaring war on Iraq. They wussed out, balls.

You want to play partisan gotcha. Find another mother, brother. I don't place partisan gotcha. There is the Corpgov system that runs Washington. It lets you those of you who need a convenient party follow either faction of the Corpgov system. Either way you get ****ed. It's all run by big money. Your Big money guy Bush was sponsored in part by Big Oil. Your man Obama was sponsored by the Crown family - General Dynamics.

All the Corpgov old guard favors war. It doesn't really matter which faction you support, Dems or GOP, it's still Corpgov and they'll get what they want because they control the compliant masses.

You seem to believe that because I don't support the actions of one fraction (you call them parties) that I am a supporter of the other party. Wrong. How about I don't support either faction? A growing number of Americans are waking up to the third choice, which is neither faction and no Corpgov.

You think bombing empty buildings has stopped beheadings?

The Soviets were well on their way to winning, until we got involved.

You think bombing empty buildings has stopped beheadings?

no.... nor do I think bombing anything will stop beheadings. Nor do I think a massive US invasion will stop beheadings. The only thing that will stop beheadings is if the Sunni governments of the region commit the troops to 1) show the world they are outraged by ISIS and 2) will do what it takes to rid the world of ISIS otherwise this goes on.

AQ in Iraq, The Taliban. I don't recall them defeating our armies.

The Viet Cong and the NVA didn't defeat our armies, either. They still won.

Anyway, the core of al-Qaeda in Iraq was not defeated, my friend. Rather, it was driven underground and across the border into Syria. It, along with other Sunni insurgent groups that we fought, was instrumental in the creation of the Mujahideen Shura Council, which has since morphed into ISIS. And, yeah, we kicked the Taliban out of Afghanistan so they could regroup in Pakistan, unless this is your definition of defeat:

KABUL, Afghanistan — Two suicide attacks targeting military transport vehicles here on Wednesday killed seven Afghan soldiers and wounded nearly 20 others, officials said, one of the deadlier strikes on security forces in the capital since the summer fighting season began.

Taliban Stage Attacks One Day After Afghanistan and U.S. Sign Security Deal

That was today--in Kabul, the capital. They just want us to know they're still there, but they're largely biding their time, waiting for us to withdraw after what will have been fourteen years in the country. You can bet your sweet bippy they'll come knocking on Afghanistan's door in force come Spring.

The point is, we defeated the enemy in the field.

That's what people thought about Japan.

Only after we incinerated or nuked a million or so civilians. Can't do that anymore. It's not nice. We're supposed to be nice people now.

Geeezus. :lamo

Its not about partisan gotcha...its about taking responsibility. Its about owning actions and not making excuses. You keep missing the point that a defender of the faith would rather call your guy an impotent bitch rather than accept he made a reasoned rational choice and one which he believes in.

We would have taken Japan anyway.

And we still lost and are losing again. What's the point of a tactical victory if the outcome is still a strategic loss?

i don't know what he did, Vance. I am of the opinion that Obama was convinced, for reasons I don't know, that bombing would work. You know as well as I that bombing isn't going bring ISIS to an end.

Who convinced Obama? People who have more to gain from perpetual war than the poor bastards who will fight it, and their families, and broke and war weary Americans.

Polls show war weary Americans want the bombing and that is why OB is doing it

Lol, they're both still alive and well and conducting attacks. No one has been "defeated"!
