    Sooooo....
If Jones said "You shot me because I'm black." Then he would automatically have defined himself as a "THUG" in APACHERAT's eyes?
Very ,very interesting and very, very telling definition of thug you have revealed here Rat.
From here on out we have a much better picture of what you are and what you mean when you use this word ...
    Thank you.

The ones yelling the most are the ones who caused it.

There's also more to it, twenty of thirty years ago when comparing LE in the west to LE in the east
(Any state that doesn't touch the Mississippi River is the "west") was like comparing apples to oranges. On the east LE was "law enforcement", reactive like (progressive law enforcement) reacting to a crime and that's how libs like it. Most LE were Irish, Italian or Jewish.

In the west LE was proactive, peace officers keeping the peace. Western LE were mostly WASP.

Not true in the west today except for some county Sheriffs departments.

That was totally messed up. We don't see cops shooting white guys practicing open carry at Walmarts and Chipoltes.

If you go back and look at California before 1970, most law enforcement agencies in the state minimum requirements was a high school diploma and two years of college or being registered and attending college at the time of applying for a position with a law enforcement agency with in the state.

Because of court order affirmative action, diversity, etc. most law enforcement agencies had to lower their standards to meet the court orders. Today most law enforcement agencies in the state now except a GED with no college units.

What's interesting that reserve officer have to meet higher standards.

Exactly. The cop is getting charged because the guy lived to tell. He was even apologizing on video to cop for scaring him...

I suspect we probably do.. the media just doesn't cover it to nearly the extent so we just do not know about it. I am white, and I have always been told to by my parents and have even read in the media quite a few times to not make sudden moves when stopped by an officer during a traffic stop and realize they don't know what you are doing when you are rummaging around in things, such as glove boxes. Police officers get shot a lot at routine traffic stops, and I am aware of that. I will typically just put my hands out the window when I am stopped.. And I never get out until the cop approaches.

Here are a couple of stories... One was an unarmed white man shot after calls to 911 of a gun being waived around. T he other is a white man shot because he reached back in to his car for a cane during a traffic stop.

IMO anyone open carrying that gets hassled (it's illegal for cops to do so) for open carrying will make a stink about it. Report it, go to the dept, even the media.

If open carry is legal, then there needs to be probable cause to harrass anyone doing so. Now, citizens that see it and are unaware of the law or are uncomfortable report this anyway....and the cops may need to come check it out because they dont know the circumstances until they arrive, but they still are not allowed to harrass the individual.

Bet if you had been shot at before, you would be alittle jumpy too.
If he is "jumpy" what is doing on solo patrol? If a police officer is not psychologically stable enough to perform his or her duties they should not be on the active duty. I suggest this asshole wasn't jumpy at all, but high on having used his weapon in combat, a rare thing for a cop, and got a medal.

You know, the attitude is what's wrong here. The whole bust was a procedural nightmare, he did not properly instruct the suspect, told him to "get" his license when he should have asked if he had it on him or where it was then instructed him how to go about getting it without being shot.

That attitude is why I never travel in the US anymore. I feel a lot safer in Cuba

Yeah, average people don't think to warn cops of their every move. I know I never have. I am surprised people are sticking up for the cop and attacking the guy for not giving notice he was going for his ID before moving. That shouldn't cost anybody their life, and if the cop was that damned scared of the guy, he wouldn't have trusted him to get into his car to begin with. The cop would have been more comfortable cuffing the guy or having his lay on the ground with his hands spread while the cop got his ID for him.

Are cops so unused to compliance that they are suspicious of that too? Reacting when people actually do as they ask?
