Eric Holder To Step Down As Attorney General

No matter who takes Holder's place or what that person does he or she will face the same attacks from the right that Holder has endured.

Don't take my word for this, just wait and see.

Holder leaving means what exactly ?

He's had 6 years to corrupt the DOJ from the top down.

about damn time
almost as bad as alberto gonzales and i thought that was near impossible
Obama is a terrible judge of talent

Being a tax evader is one of the criteria for a cabinet position, obviously other personal faults accompany that one when they find people.

And if he is replaced(as I fully expect him to be) by someone "cut from the same cloth", why would anyone expect anything less?

I fully expect that Holder will remain through to the end of Obama's term.
Based on their track record, the do nothing congress will never approve anyone the President nominates.
This is a non-news story.

Really? I thought Harry Reid paved the way for Obama appointments by applying the "nuclear option". Obama can't get 51 Senate votes by January 1st?

Holder will retain his office until 2017.
This announcement gives him a free hand to increase his influence on the DOJ and make congress look even stupider than they have been.

I guess his politicization of the DOJ is now complete, and he can move on. Or is it that he's become a political liability to Obama, and Obama's ejecting him?

I wonder what the real reason is? And don't tell he wants to spend more time with his family.

That is extreme wishful thinking. When one steps down, they go away. No one resigns effective on the last day of an administration.

I'll put my two cents in on the replacement.

I'll pick Kamala Harris, the current Attorney General of California, Democrat, black female, and someone Obama appears attracted to.

Maybe Rahm is looking for a job. He wants to ban Chic-fil-A from the entire US.

Do you know how utterly ridiculous the Senate would look if it attempted to blocked conformation of the President's nominee to Attorney General? Even more freaking irrelevant than now.

They did it at least twice against Bush picks, didn't they?

Or was that Supreme Court picks?

It's perfectly fine and justifiable when Democrats do it to Republican nominees....

If Mr. Holder does resign, maybe he will have more time to get back to defending the Islamist war criminals being held at Guantanamo. He devoted quite a bit of his time to that, at the white-shoe law firm he used to work for.

How about that full-dress trial in federal court in New York our Eric wanted to give jihadists, including the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed? This person has no legal right whatever to any such thing, of course--in fact should have had his greasy neck unceremoniously stretched on a gallows years ago--but I know how much Mr. Holder wants to give it to him. So did the President he works for.

This could be an awesome ploy by Obama to put focus on congress for not confirming many of Obama's nominees for federal judgeships.

While the media is focusing on Holder's replacement, they may also ask what of the many nominees waiting for a conformation vote.

He is good at ploys.... not much else but good at ploys.

That is exactly what they are going to do.

Just in time for the fall elections...
You are beginning to see the light.

Ok, so let's assume that, for the sake of debate, he is actually out of the office in 6 weeks.

Does he then get prosecuted for his violations of the LAW?

Two sources familiar with the decision tell NPR that Holder, 63, intends to leave the Justice Department as soon as his successor is confirmed, a process that could run through 2014 and even into next year. A former U.S. government official says Holder has been increasingly "adamant" about his desire to leave soon for fear that he otherwise could be locked in to stay for much of the rest of President Obama's second term.

What person who has a demanding job like Holders wouldn't like to spend more time with their family?

Fill us in.

The reason that became a cliche is because it's so true for so many people.
