Hundreds of Colorado students protest history curriculum[W:234]

Re: Hundreds of Colorado students protest history curriculum

Fair enough.

But the solution is to remove the liberal bias not replace it with conservative bias.

What conservative bias is being proposed to replace anything with?

Re: Hundreds of Colorado students protest history curriculum

OMFG do you know what started the Boston Massacre? It was NOT a demonstration! It started with a single colonist calling out a British officer for not paying a bill at the wigmaker's. The guard at the custom house heard the exchange and went over and bopped the colonist on the head with a musket. Then a large freaking brawl ensued. It wasn't a demonstration. It was a fight.

Boston Massacre Historical Society

It was March 5, 1770, a snowy night, when a couple of young boys began throwing snowballs at soldiers. As the crowd grew larger people continued to throw ice and taunt them. Soon, approximately sixty men and dock workers complained about soldiers taking their jobs and impressments--taking men’s property or forcing them to fight in the service--in front of a customhouse.

OMFingGoding isn't going to help you. It was much more than a fight.

Re: Hundreds of Colorado students protest history curriculum

Yeah, these school board members campaigned on these changes, and the people in the community supported those changes

That's why they're protesting the changes....because they support them.

Nice try, but you were correct on the first point as applies to the large majority. The last little bit of sarcasm applies only to the losers who are now butthurt about it.

Re: Hundreds of Colorado students protest history curriculum

I think this ugly attitude toward young people explains why nobody under 65 votes for Republicans anymore, unless they live in a compound in the desert, or a trailer park in the South.

Hilarious, you do know these students are not voters, right? When you reach adulthood you may realize that adults decide quite a number of things that children object to. It's telling that when those same children become adults they do the same thing. Why? Because they have adult responsibilities and all of a sudden those things make sense.

Re: Hundreds of Colorado students protest history curriculum

soooooo... the teachers union gets teachers and students to protest over bias and censorship of a curriculum that is already heavily biased and censored...

makes perfect sense.

uuugghhh..

What a gross display of attempted authoritarianism. Disgusting as hell. "You will be patriotic and respect authority" **** makes my skin crawl.

Except when it liberal authoritarianism then you're all for it...

Hilarious define liberal authoritarianism....

Here let me help you, you mean helping ppl...

No, I was thinking more like what is happening today under our wonderfully go it alone President...But there are plenty of examples, I am sure you can find them close by, even among your own liberal buddies.

I'm a progressive not a liberal...

Give me a example?

And Obama is a corporatist centrist not a liberal..

You cons have dragged us all so far right liberalism is all but dead in government.

Even worse.

Nope, do your own homework.

One prog lying for another, how quaint.

That actually made me laugh out loud....ha.
You calling Obama a progressive made me laugh...

And its true. How are we not crazily to the right right now? Make a legitimate argument instead of talking ish.

Except when it liberal authoritarianism then you're all for it...

I appreciate your concern but I'll speak for myself. You can stick to speaking for yourself. K sport? Unless this is your backwards way of saying you support RW authoritarianism I suppose.

It's not other peoples' "homework" to look up your claims that you won't support. It's yours.

if authoritarianism within the school ranks makes your skin crawl, your skin should have already been crawling ..... for decades now.

Mine was pretty conservative. Not like that though. But you don't see authoritarianism when you are younger as well as you do when you get some age on your skin. Perhaps just getting older just makes skin crawl.

true enough... I had no idea schools were so screwed up until i got some years under my belt and had my own kids going through it.

and now with the zero tolerance environments and school controlling more and more of students lives ... it's only getting worse.

bitching that a school might have the audacity to teach patriotism as a "positive" makes me laugh, though..
people would throw an absolute ****fit if they were availed to the evil ways we were taught in my day... when patriotism and civic duty were the top priorities in school( citizenship was part of our grades)..... lefties would start cutting themselves if they had to live though that sort of heinous ****.

I can't stand "no tolerance" policies. It's total BS. It's a way people in authority positions can dodge responsibility for making decisions. "My hands are tied by policy" crap. My redneck high school had a massive FFA crowd that all drove pickups to school with gun racks in the windows carrying rifles and shotguns. During hunting season they might not come back after lunch. lol Also pocket knives... many people carry them. its no big deal. They are just tools.

People have just created jobs where decision making is a requirement of the job so they work their asses off to create policies that take their job responsibilities away. So they can just show up just to collect a paycheck.

The whole teaching patriotism bit does make my skin crawl though. Because it's extremely subjective. One guys' patriotism is rebellion while another is absolute obedience to authority.

Yes, God forbid we teach kids to like much less love their own country...Why, they might actually try to defend it against the enemy within.

LOL .... another over-reaction from someone who didn't actually bother to investigate.

They do not 'teach' patriotism ... they teach truths that 'promote' patriotism. Read the report ... it actually enhances students' access to historical facts.

Now, your skin won't crawl ...
