D’Souza Is Spared Prison Time for Campaign Finance Violations

got it
as a former officer of the court, a former practicing attorney, you find that those who do engage in fraud should not be subjected to incarceration
too twisted for those of us who reside in the real world

prison should be reserved for violent types

working off their debt to society for scam artists like Madoff makes more sense. A guy with his intellect can LEGITIMATELY make 200-300 K a year. so have him do that and take 80% of it for the victims rather than spending 40K a year on him in prison

madoff is currently enjoying superstar status while in prison
doing taxes for many of the inmates
should be a movie about someone who does such :doh

why not have him work mainly for free while paying for his own food and housing?

What would compel him to make 200-300k a year entirely for other people?

But of course. Why did you expect anything less than this?

First, he's a minority. Second, he's a congressman. Third, he's a monitory congressman brought up before his congressional peers.

You seriously expected some sort of consistent justice to be applied to this situation as if he were a rich white businessman? Perish the thought.

Yes, yes. Not only excessive political correctness apply here, also the case that a thief being judged by a ban of thieves.

Well said.

Madoff put people in the poorhouse by stealing their life's savings. that is malum per se. what DD did is malum prohibitum

meaning it is illegal because laws are passed saying its illegal-not because it is objectively wrong

for people like Madoff, the best punishment is to impoverish them and force them to spend the rest of their years on earth working off what they took from other. Madoff is brilliant so he can use his intelligence to help enrich those he cheated

as to DD-its a stupid law that should not exist in the first place

TD, for decades, he operated a successful Ponzi Scheme. That is where his brilliance lies, being a smooth talking criminal.
A person familiar with the situation said investigators believe Mr. Madoff initially had a trading strategy that failed, and that he had made very few, if any, stock or options trades for clients over the years. Instead, the operation consisted of taking money in from new clients and paying it out to existing clients, said people familiar with the matter.

Q&A on the Madoff Case - WSJ

So I disagree. Prison is a fine place for him.

one does not have to be violent to be a menace to society

hell no
he did the crime
make him pay
with the most precious commodity on earth: time

Here's how that Fox interview would have gone down if D'Souza had character and was not, in fact, a low-character ****weasel:

Kelly: "So, Mr. D'Souza, looks like you were caught being a bad boy."
D'Souza: "Yup, it certainly appears that way."
Kelly: "But wouldn't you say that you were being unfairly targeted?"
D'Souza: "Kelly, I don't know, maybe I was, maybe I wasn't, but let's not try to change the subject. The point is I broke the law and I'm paying the price for it. That's it."
Kelly: "Yes, but-"
D'Souza: "Kelly, there is no 'but.' I knew what I did was illegal and I got busted. That's it. Here's the thing you really need to remember here: if I hadn't committed a crime, I wouldn't be here right now."
Kelly: "But the prosecutor-"
D'Souza: "Kelly, just stop. Let me reiterate: If I hadn't committed this crime, I'd be home right now binging on Orange is the New Black, because I have absolutely terrible taste in television."
Kelly: "......"
D'Souza: "......"
Kelly: "Um..."
D'Souza: "Yyyyup."
Kelly: "Okay, um...Dinesh D'Souza, everybody. We'll return after these messages."
It really is a terrible show though.

It started out alright enough, but quickly became "Girl Goes to Reform School."

I always find it interesting the liberals bend over backwards to excuse violent criminals but want to waste expensive jail space on people who aren't physically hurting others

a waste of time and money

We'll have to agree to disagree. He has nothing to offer to society in the manner which you have suggested. No skills to turn towards the public good.

What the authorities have recovered in terms of "his" assets, can't make everyone whole again. Including charities and foundations, so I'm good with him being locked up.

fine harvest his organs and use the proceeds to repay the victims

That's a little harsh. I wouldn't go that far. :)

OK we all agree-he gets to be bubba's prison bitch for 10 years
Bubba got him for a pack of smokes and two candy bars
